Position Summary:

New York Life's Insurance & Agency Group is seeking a highly qualified individual for the role of Healthcare Analytics Manager.  This is a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on the future growth and operations of the company through the development of key strategic capabilities for New York Life to utilize new sources of health data to enhance the customer experience, increase efficiency of operations, and improve risk assessment. The ideal candidate will have experience in a data-driven consulting role leading/ working in cross-functional team to execute strategy, with analytical, technical and customer communication skills, preferably in the healthcare industry.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop and operationalize new strategic solutions and capabilities to improve customer experience and operations
  • Define and execute strategy, roadmap, objectives and key results, to lead cross-functional teams in a collaborative matrix environment, and develop strategic capabilities including use of digital health data for life insurance underwriting risk assessment
  • Optimize health data retrieval solutions by analyzing and solving for drop-off in consumer behavior, inefficient data supply chains and operational processes
  • Take overall ownership in achieving results in operational metrics and executing business strategy and objectives
  • Support decisions with key insights, data analysis & effective presentations of important factors driving the businesses
  • Develop polished presentations and data visualizations to synthesize and communicate complex data analysis to various constituencies, including senior leadership
  • Partner with external vendors and lead internal business and technology teams to develop, test, pilot and operationalize new innovative data sources for risk assessment and advanced analytics
  • Perform data analysis to support the identification and prioritization of business requirements and rules
  • Effectively collaborate with a broad range of functional areas incl. Technology, Underwriting, Marketing, Field Service, Data Scientists, Sales Agents, Data Security, Legal, Compliance, Procurement, Operational Risk Management
     

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated, execution oriented, with very strong analytical and synthesis skills
  • Collaborative work style with ability to effectively interact with and earn trust of peers and senior leaders
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and driving the realization of project goals and completion of time-bound deliverables
  • High capacity to prioritize multiple assignments and multi-task essential; very organized with excellent follow-up and problem-solving skills
  • Deep knowledge of Excel and advanced PowerPoint skills required; experience with process mapping (e.g. Visio) and analytic/statistical tools (e.g. Tableau)
  • Outstanding judgment, critical thinking, time management, communication and writing skills
  • Effective and concise communicator especially with senior management (presentations, emails and lead discussions)
  • Broad knowledge of the Life Insurance industry and business operations is a strong plus
     

Experience:

  • 5-7+ years of experience in roles across consulting, data analysis, consulting, and solution development
  • Hands-on experience with conducting research and analysis to optimize consumer funnels and operational processes  
  • Prior consulting firm or internal consulting experience strongly preferred
  • Hands-on experience analyzing and working with healthcare data is required
  • Software Development Life Cycle and Agile framework/ methodologies
     

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA, Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
