Program Manager – Corporate Technology Communications Team

The Corporate Technology (CT) Communications Program Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and reporting on the portfolio of Corporate Communications Enterprise Content Management projects on behalf of Corporate Technology.  S/he will own accountability for on-time, on-budget, high quality delivery of these projects, with stakeholder satisfaction as a primary objective.  To successfully accomplish this goal, the successful candidate will provide direct oversight of planning and execution for this large portfolio of projects inclusive of multiple functions, with a high level of complexity, and involving multiple stakeholders. 

 

The CT Communications portfolio is comprised of a variety of projects including; new capabilities and services, large scale application development, systems integration, operational efficiency improvements, process reengineering and infrastructure upgrades and deployments.  The incumbent will be responsible for stewarding critical strategic investments and will be accountable for driving the successful delivery of change by providing leadership and direction to the portfolio. 

 

The CT Communications Program Manager will report directly to the Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for CT Communications, with matrixed responsibility to CT Communications Portfolio Manager (PfM).  S/he will work closely with the PfM to ensure alignment with BRM and the Portfolio management team to drive optimized capacity versus demand within budget constraints.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures the Enterprise Content Management portfolio aligns with both business and technology strategic roadmaps.
  • Stewards benefits from business case justification to realization of expected business outcomes.
  • Ensures scope of projects within the program remains aligned to business priorities and capacity.
  • Supports development and management of integrated project plans and drives program critical path in accordance with NYL Technology Development Lifecycle methodology.
  • Continuously assesses implementation risks, priorities, resource requirements, critical dependencies and assumptions underlying projects to ensure timely and effective execution.
  • Collaborates across Technology and Corporate Communications teams on content management project-level initiatives.
  • Assists in evolving and refining change management framework to ensure changes in operating models and internal processes are reflected in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the CT Communications portfolio initiatives are sequenced optimally to deliver consistent business value and maintain alignment with the goals of the Corporate Technology organization.
  • Works according to the IT COE project/program management standards and participates in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Proactively sets performance expectations and helps project managers manage requirements, and expectations of delivery to yield consistently positive results.
  • Defines, refines and updates portfolio performance and reporting;
    • Collects/reviews status, and creates program status reports,
    • explains variances to plan,
    • drives to root cause analysis of issues and resolves issues at the root cause
    • escalates as, where, and when appropriate.
  • Supports and coaches project managers within the portfolio. 
  • Provides leadership in the face of uncertainty, change, and aggressive deadlines.
  • Identifies program impediments and addresses with solutions with appropriate urgency and within the correct escalation path.
  • Manages program risks and mitigation/contingency plans ensuring right level of visibility.
  • Reviews program budget and schedule variances and scope change requests to drive resolution.
  • Supports the development and execution of intra-program communications.
  • Identifies and drives delivery execution efficiencies.
  • Drives a culture of attention to risk excellence, quality, and continuous self-assessment to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. 

 

Experience

  • Successfully managing large, complex, multiyear IT programs on behalf of Content Management.
  • Progressive technology career experience at a financial institution, or in a leadership role at a major consulting organization.
  • Successfully managing large-scale technology strategic efforts, inclusive of program controls, performance metrics, and financial reporting.
  • Successfully driving cross team collaboration and diverse thinking, with a focus on doing what is right for the company.
  • Establishing and enforcing effective PMO and program management practices.
  • Experience and familiarity with collaboration systems / content management platforms strongly preferred.

    • Familiarity with architectural concepts supporting key Enterprise Content Management activities

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Program/Project Management Professional (PMI PMP) or equivalent certification a plus.
