New York Life Investments is seeking an RFP writer to join the Business Response Team. The individual in this position will support NYL Investments third party distribution efforts, including support of intermediary and institutional channels. More specifically, the position will support MacKay Shields strategies, and will focus on execution of RFPs/RFIs/DDQs for existing New York Life Investments clients and prospective clients, working closely with the MacKay Shields’ RFP team.

 

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in the asset management industry, with a high degree of investment knowledge, and a focus on fixed income products. The candidate must also have exceptional writing skills and be able to make decisions independently as they execute on the proposal process. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Produce high-quality responses: Research, write, and edit responses to RFPs, RFIs, & DDQs as part of the sales & client service process, exhibiting a solid understanding of the firm’s products and investment strategies.
  • Partner closely with investment teams, marketing, sales and other stakeholder units to ensure accuracy of content and completion of all requests in a timely manner.
  • Apply expertise and knowledge of firm strategies to appropriately craft responses that are tailored to the specific investment opportunity.
  • Update and maintain a database (Qvidian) of relevant RFP answers on the firm and products, ensuring quality of language and data is accurate.
  • Adhere to industry standards and guidelines from a marketing & compliance perspective.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests from internal stakeholders & clients.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across both NYL Investments and MacKay Shields. 

 

Requirements

 

  • Detail-oriented, energetic, and self-motivated team player who works well under pressure and has strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be resourceful and understand the institutional asset management business and fixed income products.
  • Team player, agile to meet the business requirements and industry growth, and comfortable with technology tools to manage workload and priorities.
  • Knowledge of the capital markets, particularly fixed income, and high yield, as well as, the inner workings of institutional sales and marketing functions. 
  • Organized highly proficient individual to work in our fast-paced, deadline-driven Business Response Team.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments so that all deadlines are met.

 

Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications/Key Skills 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, English, Communications or related field is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an RFP role, asset management, or closely related financial services role.
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Client / Prospect centered approach to developing value propositions and tailoring new business proposals.
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with sales and investment professionals.
  • Ability to work independently but also function as a key contributor to a small, collaborative team.
  • Excellent project and time management skills – managing multiple tasks simultaneously and delivering outstanding work products under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools required, knowledge of Qvidian preferred.
  • Experience with eVestment, consultant databases and Morningstar a plus
