The Risk Management Policies and Standards Governance, Sr. Associate is primarily responsible for ensuring Risk Management Policies and Standards are aligned to the Risk Management Policy Framework. This individual will evaluate updates and changes to Risk Management Policies and Standards. This individual will ensure Policy statements clearly establish the Company’s goals, objectives and principles. They will ensure Standard requirement statements are clear, prescriptive, measurable and meet objectives for effectiveness. Further they will ensure annual recertifications and updates of existing Policies and Standards are performed timely and will maintain all supporting documents and evidence of approvals throughout the lifecycle of a Policy or Standard. Additionally, this individual will support managing and maintaining mapping for all existing and new policies and standards to current and future Risk and Control libraries. This individual will report directly to the Risk Management Policies and Standards Governance Lead.

 

Responsibilities:
• Interpret regulatory requirements and other industry leading Risk Management Frameworks (e.g., NYSDFS, HIPAA, COSO, ISO, NIST etc.) and translate the requirements into risk management guidance appropriate for New York Life.

• Consult and educate Risk Management Policy and Standard Owners on achievable and measurable requirements to meet prevailing laws, regulations or leading practices.
• Evaluate updates and changes to both Risk Management Policies and Standards.
• Ensure Standard requirements are clear, prescriptive, measurable and meet objectives for effectiveness.
• Engage and advise Risk Management Policy and Standard Owners to ensure proper governance for all documents under development or review, including ensuring documents will comply with the New York Life Risk Management Policy Framework.
• Develop and maintain a process for cascading Policy and Standard updates to all related Risk Management processes to assure there is alignment amongst upstream, downstream and other related documents.
• Ensure Executive Change Summary documents for Risk Management Policies and Standards evaluate business area cost and resource impacts to validate the cost/benefit analysis for adding, removing or updating document requirements and scope.
• Identify gaps where additional Policies and Standards need to be created.
• Maintain all supporting documents and evidence of approvals through the lifecycle of a Policy or Standard.
• Oversee Policy and Standard Owner’s communication and socialization plans.
• Ensure annual recertifications and updates of existing Policies and Standards are performed timely.
• Enforce and maintain change control mechanisms for Risk Management Policies and Standards to ensure integrity and quality across all documents.
• Interface with Risk Management Policy and Standard Owners and Leadership to monitor the progress of the Risk Management Policy Framework to drive continuous improvement and to enhance acceptance by the target audience.
• Communicate to all concerned parties; milestones, status updates, and issues/concerns. Proactively follow escalation and change control processes.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field (Risk Management, Computer Information Systems, Business Finance, etc. 
  •  CRISC, CISA or CISSP preferred
  • 5+ years relevant risk management experience; Broad Risk Management and/or consulting experience

 

Specific experience in:
• Risk Management Policies and Standards Governance areas (Third Party Risk, Corporate Resilience, Information Security, Financial Risk, etc.)
• Second Line Risk Management or Enterprise Risk Management
• Risk and Control Catalog mapping
• Familiarity or experience with Issues Management and Policy Exception processes.
• Strong project management and planning skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Strong technical skills; including working with GRC applications, ServiceNow, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Tableau experience preferred
• Strong personal, communication and organizational skills as they will be working closely with Risk Leadership across the organization
