Looking for an opportunity to shape content strategy for a great company and industry-leading product line? New York Life (a Fortune 100 company; a Forbes 2021 best employer for diversity) is seeking an experienced writer to lead marketing content strategy for their $13 billion Retail Annuities business. As a key member of the Annuity Marketing Team, the Annuity Content Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies, messaging, content, materials, and campaigns to enhance the marketing of our annuity products.

The Annuity Content Marketing Manager will be tasked with bringing this story to life through the development of new content programs and material, including supporting short-term and long-term marketing initiatives that further the reach of our messages.

 

Ideal candidates will be marketers at heart: self-starters who love crafting stories, have an eye for design, appreciate the details, and view writing as one of their strengths. Applicants must also have experience communicating complex ideas to senior management, collaborating within a highly “matrixed” organization, and balancing a multitude of projects concurrently.

 

A more detailed list of roles and responsibilities include:

 

  • Support and contribute to annuity content development initiatives, from brainstorming concepts and developing messaging to writing and delivering final content
  • Plan, develop, and write actionable marketing programs and materials, including sales/product positioning ideas, product collateral, pitch decks, direct mail campaigns, video scripts, email/social media promotions, and website/landing page assets
  • Collaborate with Sales and Channel Marketing Teams to build engaging marketing and training presentations (through the effective use of PowerPoint)
  • Submit content through respective compliance/legal channels to gain approval and negotiate required edits to ensure messaging effectiveness
  • Represent the Annuity Marketing Team at brainstorming, strategy, and project management meetings, and on cross-functional work streams
  • Conduct ongoing review and assessment of existing product support materials to ensure effectiveness, timeliness, and appropriateness with recommendations for improvement

 

Required and/or desired qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related work experience
  • Proven business and creative writing skills
  • A solid understanding of the financial services industry (knowledge of the retirement landscape and/or annuity products is a huge plus)
  • The ability to anticipate internal and external business challenges and/or regulatory issues and recommend process or product improvements
  • A track record of solving unique and complex problems, using conceptual and innovative thinking to develop solutions
  • Excellent PowerPoint skills is a MUST
  • An eye for branding, design, and formatting
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to analyze data and synthesize into meaningful results for a diverse audience
  • The ability to work independently on projects and work in a team environment with flexible parameters
  • A self motivated, results-oriented individual with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines
