Senior Associate, RFP Writer - This is a hybrid opportunity 


New York Life Investments is seeking a fixed income RFP writer to join the Business Response Team. The individual in this position will support NYL Investments third party distribution efforts, including support of intermediary and institutional channels . The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in the asset management industry, with a focus on fixed income products. This individual will be embedded within MacKay Shields, one of our affiliate boutiques, and will focus on execution of RFPs/ RFIs/DDQs for existing NYLI clients and prospective clients.


  • Ensure all RFPs and RFIs are completed in a timely, professional manner and are of institutional quality.
  • Adhere to industry standards and guidelines from a marketing perspective. 
  • Work with subject matter experts and the investment teams to update and maintain a database of RFP answers on the firm and products.
  • Be fully knowledgeable of the company, strategies and services.




  • Detail-oriented, energetic, and self-motivated team player who works well under pressure and has strong project management and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be resourceful and have an understanding of the institutional asset management business and of fixed income products.
  • Team player, agile to meet the business requirements and industry growth, and comfortable with technology tools to manage workload and priorities.
  • Knowledge of the capital markets, particularly fixed income, and high yield, as well as, the inner workings of institutional sales and marketing functions. 
  • Detail-oriented, organized, highly proficient individual to work in our fast-paced, deadline-driven Business Response Team.
  • Proficiency in language arts, well-developed writing and proofing skills are essential.   
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize assignments so that all deadlines are met.



Desired Skills and Experience Qualifications/Key Skills 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, English, Communications or related field is required.
  • At least seven years of experience in an RFP role, asset management, or closely related financial services role is preferred.
  • Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Client / Prospect centered approach to developing value propositions and tailoring new business proposals.
  • Ability to build strong, trusted relationships with sales and investment professionals.
  • Ability to work independently but also function as a key contributor to a small, collaborative team.
  • Excellent project and time management skills – managing multiple tasks simultaneously and delivering outstanding work products under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools required, knowledge of Qvidian preferred.
