Position Summary – Anaplan Model Builder Senior Associate

The Budget & Expense Management Anaplan Model Builder will play an integral role within the finance domain responsible for planning, budgeting, forecasting and analytics of New York Life’s expense base.


The Senior Associate will be required to manage the Anaplan modules applicable to the expense management processes of the company.  This role will interact with key stake holders of the organization and various members of the Finance, Technology, Procurement, and business finance departments.


This position requires excellent analytical, technical, problem solving, and communication skill sets to ensure requests are understood, processed and delivered within applicable time frames, and in accordance with New York Life’s accounting policies and specific technical requirements.  A strong ability to work independently, as well as a member of a cross-functional team is expected.


Primary Deliverables & Responsibilities

  • Translate Finance business requirements into technical design in Anaplan
  • Configure Anaplan models - modules, lists, dashboards, and other model settings to meet business requirements
  • Perform unit testing and support system integration testing
  • Work closely with the users to validate requirements
  • Monitor and maintain integrations to and from Anaplan and maintain data governance
  • Work closely with end users to support Anaplan model functionality and troubleshoot user issues
  • Administer user provisioning based on roles designed in the tool
  • Update admin guide and training materials, as necessary 



  • 5+ years of financial analysis experience
  • Expert skills in excel modeling including pivoting, modeling, macros, charts functionality
  • Strong aptitude for emerging technologies and digitally savvy
  • Experience in multi-dimensional data structures and data governance practices
  • 5+ years of systems implementation experience with widely used planning tools like Cognos, Hyperion, BPC, QlikView, Tableau, etc. is a plus
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication, including presentation skills
