Senior Associate to support New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (GBS)

 

New York Life’s Corporate Communications function is seeking a Senior Associate to join our team. This individual, who will be responsible for a variety of internal and external communication tasks, events and strategies, will work specifically in support of the company’s newest business, New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (GBS).

 

Reporting to, and under the direction of, the Head of GBS Communications, this is a unique opportunity to make an early mark on the recently-acquired business’ internal and external communications strategy, and the engagement of the team’s 3,500 employees and other stakeholders.

 

The role is based in New York, with frequent travel to our offices in Philadelphia, and other New York Life locations as needed. Travel could equate to approximately 15% per week.   

 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of GBS Communications in crafting and executing strategic communications plans for GBS, including actively partnering with the GBS Communications Center of Excellence and Human Resources.
  • Manage editorial and writing projects—including drafting executive emails and speaking points, video scripts, meeting presentations, intranet content, surveys, press releases and other deliverables.
  • Drive innovation through the delivery of our internal communications strategy to meet the needs of a hybrid, and largely remote, workforce.
  • Champion the GBS Value Story, and New York Life’s vision and mission, through the delivery of all communication tactics and strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues within Corporate Communications, including External Communications, Corporate Design, Editorial and Content Strategy, Digital Workplace, Video/Meetings/Broadcasts, and Employee Social Engagement.
  • Coordinate meetings with teams and leaders, prepare presentations, take meeting notes, and regularly contribute to a team calendar of communication deliverable.
  • Assist the business in scheduling, formatting and distributing communications via the company intranet and email, including oversight for the maintenance of various distribution and contact lists.
  • Gather and interpret metrics to ensure our communications projects deliver results; this includes collecting and analyzing intranet and email usage statistics, post-meeting feedback, and other employee surveys.
  • Learn about the GBS business and develop relationships with colleagues to understand how strategic communications play a role in engaging employees and achieving business goals.
  • Contribute to other special projects and duties as assigned.

  • Experience in interfacing with/preparing materials for various levels of leadership, including a senior leadership team and head of a business unit.
  • Interest in personal finance and life and disability insurance, a plus

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, such as communications, public relations, or marketing
  • 5-7 years of communications experience (employee communications, external/public relations, or marketing communications)
  • Demonstrated experience creating content for email, online, in-person and virtual meetings, and print to support strategic communications
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, meet tight deadlines, and work under pressure
  • Collaborative team player with successful experience participating in high-profile cross-functional projects
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products required; knowledge of email distribution and analytics tools and project management experience preferred
