Lead and contribute to data analyses and modeling projects from project inception through sampling design.  Participate in business review meetings with internal and external clients to determine requirements and deliverables, reception, and data processing. Perform analyses and modeling to prepare final reports and presentations, communicate results, and implement support. Provide technical support for strategic consulting, needs assessments, project-scoping, and the preparation and presentation of analytical proposals.  Leverage advanced statistical techniques to create high-performing predictive models and creative analyses to address business objectives and client needs. Develop and test new statistical analysis methods as well as software and data sources for continual quantitative solutions improvement.  Research conference materials, books, journals, and publications to identify and implement the most appropriate framework and methodology for use with business use cases.  Leverage data wrangling, data matching, and Extract, Transfer, and Load (ETL) techniques to explore data sources, gain data expertise, perform summary analyses, and prepare modeling datasets. Deploy analytical solutions in production systems. Communicate with internal stakeholders concerning product design, data specification, and model implementation; with partners concerning collaboration ideas and specifics; and, with clients and account teams concerning project and test results, opportunities, and questions.  Create project milestone plans to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Ensure compliance with regulatory and privacy requirements during the design and implementation of modeling and analysis projects.

 

Requirements: PhD degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and no experience. Or, in the alternative, a Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience performing predictive modeling for the insurance industry.

**Experience and skills may be gained during a graduate program.

 

Requires one (1) year of experience in each of the following skills: (1) Programming in R, Python, SAS, and SQL to extract and transform data from data sources such as Oracle, SQL, and Hadoop, to perform data visualization and analyses, and to build complex models; (2) Performing statistical modeling using linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis (Cox proportional hazard models), Generalized Linear Models (GLM), Robust GLM, regularization techniques (Ridge, Lasso, and ElasticNet), decision tree-based models (Random Forests and GBM), time series analysis, cluster analysis, and Principal Component Analysis (PCA); (3) Performing variable selection, feature creation (transformation, binning, and high-level categorical reduction) and model validation and testing (hold-outs, cross-validation, and bootstrapping); (4) Performing outlier detection, robust statistical modeling, experimental design and analysis, hypotheses testing, convex and non-convex optimization, and partial least squares regression; and, (5) Interfacing with business leaders to understand business needs, formulating them into statistical analyses, and presenting data, modeling findings, and business recommendations to business leaders, including the visualization of complex data using PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, and R Shiny.
