Job Duties: Frames and analyzes complex business decisions including issues and risks (e.g., financial performance, new product launch, customer relationships, etc.). Assesses areas of opportunity in line with overall enterprise vision and strategy.  Develops strategic frameworks, methodologies to test hypotheses and plans to solve key strategic and operational issues. Develops and presents recommendations for strategic solutions, operational plans, and governance structures to senior leadership. Supports strategic planning processes, including inter-dependencies between key business, technology, and financial planning processes.  Facilitates structured reviews of the enterprise portfolio of strategic initiatives and implications by developing an enterprise-wide inventory of ongoing and future strategic initiatives using financial and non-financial data. Supports agenda and presentation development for all businesses within New York Life's portfolio (e.g., Foundational Insurance Business, Strategic Insurance Businesses) for senior executive audiences and meetings.  Owns and drives the end-to-end delivery of solutions with guidance from senior team members. Leads the execution of key enterprise initiatives by forming collaborative partnerships with colleagues across businesses and functional areas.  Manages enterprise governance and communication processes.

 

Education & Experience Requirements:

Master's degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field and 3 years of experience developing mathematical models to provide business insights, including profitability analysis, resourcing analysis, and strategic planning.

OR, in the alternative:

 

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent foreign education) in Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or related field plus 5 years of experience developing mathematical models to provide business insights, including profitability analysis, resourcing analysis, and strategic planning.

 

Required Special Skills:

 

Experience must include 1 year in each of the following:

1)  Leveraging data analytics and programming tools, including VBA in Excel, PowerBI, and Tableau to process, analyze, and visualize data to provide business insights;

     

2)  Applying discounted cash flow analysis to derive asset values and comparable company analysis to develop key metrics for business performance evaluation;

           

3)  Preparing financial models and conducting scenario analyses to test hypotheses; and

           

4)  Developing recommendations to improve business performance, penetrate new markets, and redesign organizational structure to inform executive decision-making.
