The CVP, Segment Strategy, will collaborate across the organization to design, create, and implement segmentation solutions.  The successful candidate will work closely with senior leaders of New York Life’s Foundational Business to develop actionable segmentation solutions that will help the organization achieve financial and growth goals.  While this role sits in the Marketing organization, and Marketing will be a primary beneficiary of the work, the successful candidate will ultimately operate as a center of excellence for the business, working across our matrixed organization to ensure strategic alignment, communicate findings, provide strategic input, and ensure adoption.

•    Partner with leaders of the Foundational Business and peers across the organization to develop a comprehensive recommendation on market segmentation.  Recommendation must support our current business and sales practices while enabling our future go-to-market strategy.
•    Partner with internal (e.g., Data Science, Finance, Agents, etc.) and external resources as needed to develop an actionable, data-driven market segmentation.  Work with Marketing Leadership Team and executives across the organization to ensure alignment with company priorities and processes.
•    Serve as a key resource for working teams across the organization; provide segment-specific frameworks, analysis, and advice that effectively align our business activities with market opportunity.
•    Partner with our Service and Agency organizations to ensure that frontline personnel understand segments and have the training, tools, and resources to make the segmentation actionable.
•    Develop segment-driven, Tableau-based dashboards to enable an empirical understanding of historical performance; participate in management discussions to help inform future investments in marketing, sales, and service capabilities.
•    Manage data and procurement process(es) necessary to enable segmentation. 

•    Bachelor’s degree required, with focus in business, mathematics/statistics, marketing/market research, preferred.
•    MBA or post-graduate degree in demography/sociology or market research field preferred.
•    8+ years relevant experience (consumer segmentation, consumer strategy, market research).
•    Demonstrated success in building creative, empirically based, and actionable segmentation solutions.
•    Creative thinker with an orientation for pragmatic, business-driven solutions; ability to synthesize key insights from multiple sources.
•    Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation).
•    Passion for understanding consumer behavior and ability to serve as an advocate for consumers in a successful, established organization.
•    Ability to expertly and independently navigate our collaborative, matrixed organization.
•    Highly effective in forging working relationships with team members and senior leaders. 
•    Adaptive thinking with focus on objectives, while navigating shifting priorities and our evolving organization.
