New York Life’s primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States.  Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales.  Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations. 


Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers.  The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the women’s markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.


Role Overview

The Senior Associate, Agency Zone Operations Specialist will work both tactically and strategically to support two Senior Vice Presidents to enable the achievement of business goals and high-profile strategic initiatives. Responsibilities include the delivery of both day-to-day priorities as well as assisting manager in longer term goals and projects. We are seeking a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and who can work independently as well as part of a team to deliver on plans that support recruiting and retention efforts in the Field. This position will also be responsible for reporting and tracking against goals in several key leading and performance indicators.


  • Collect and organize data from various sources to build reports for routine and ad-hoc reporting and analysis for senior leadership across the company
  • Work closely with manager on key findings and insights to identify business opportunities for senior management
  • Support manager in projects related to field culture, performance management, change management, and recruiting and retention
  • Create communication plans and provide content for corporate intranet and emails
  • Assist in the coordination and execution on:
    • key planning, strategy, and performance review meetings
    • agendas, pre-reads, metrics, and key discussion themes
    • presentations for senior leadership audiences



  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Skilled in Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to create professional presentations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capable of switching gears throughout the day to assist with meeting critical deadlines
  • Good interpersonal skills to work with different management levels
  • Experience with insurance and/or financial service industry preferred but not required
  • Ability to work in white space environment, think outside the box in making recommendations for process improvement




Salary range: $72,500-$107,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
