Position Description:

 

This position, on New York Life’s International Asset Management Controllership team, working under the direction and supervision of the International Accounting Manager, will play an integral role in ensuring the overall governance and integrity of the international business's financial data. They will be expected to take the lead over many of the following core responsibilities:

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintain the fiscal integrity of each international business through the enhancement and management of accounting processes and controls.
  • Implement solution for the reconciliation of local to US GAAP accounting balances and streamline the financial reporting and audit processes.
  • Partner with Corporate Tax Team to ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements, including the completion of the international cost-plus calculation templates and preparation of locally compliant intercompany invoices.
  • Ensure that appropriate US GAAP adjustments are properly recorded, and consolidations are accurately completed.
  • Perform analytical procedures over financial results including year over year, quarter over quarter, and US GAAP versus foreign local GAAP comparisons.
  • Perform accounting & treasury functions where needed, including receiving, processing, and paying invoices related to NYLIM's international operations.
  • Communicate with local international senior management and local international accounting teams regarding any new or unusual transactions.
  • Assist in the finance integration of newly acquire entities.

 

Employment Standards:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 3-5 years of professional accounting experience.
  • Experience in financial service industry. CPA is a plus.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and standards.
  • Experience with international accounting and reporting a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret, synthesize, and present financial information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and SAP general ledger. Experience with Data modeling applications a plus.
  • Ability to plan, initiate and complete work assignments independently and with minimum direction.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others and to build trust and positive working relationships.

 

 

Salary range: $72,500-$107,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
