About the role:
You will join the Field Productivity value stream, designing the tools and experiences that help New York Life agents/advisors sell, service, and grow their business more efficiently. Your work will simplify complex, regulated workflows across the agent journey - from prospecting and planning to quoting, applications, servicing, and ongoing client engagement.
What You’ll Do:
Design concepting and detailed design handoff to development
- Lead early-stage design concepting by turning ambiguous problem spaces into clear, testable concepts and experience flows grounded in user and business needs.
- Work closely with design leadership to ensure consistent application of standards and alignment with evolving strategic direction.
- Translate validated concepts into detailed, production-ready design specifications, including component-level documentation, edge cases, and responsive behaviors.
- Partner closely with engineering during handoff and implementation, providing clear design artifacts, answering questions, and reviewing builds to ensure high-quality execution.[L(1]
Design across our Field Productivity portfolio
- Design end-to-end experiences for agent/advisor-facing products and workflows, ensuring each experience is fast, clear, and aligned to business goals and regulatory requirements.
- Prioritize design work across multiple workstreams in the Field Productivity value stream, balancing long-term vision with near-term delivery in partnership with Product and Engineering.
- Plan and run research and discovery with field users (agents/advisors, field managers, service teams) to understand real-world workflows, constraints, and pain points, then translate insights into experience strategy and UX decisions.
- Drive consistency and quality by leveraging and evolving shared design systems, patterns, and standards so field tools feel cohesive and familiar.
- Use outcomes and insights (e.g., task time, adoption, error rates, satisfaction) to iterate and continuously improve field productivity.
Cross-functional creation and collaboration
- Partner with cross functional teams for delivery: Collaborate with design leadership, product owners, engineering, operations, compliance, and field stakeholders, driving alignment and decision-making across a large-scale, multi-year implementation and in-year MVP delivery.
- Contribute to co-creation and workshops: Participate in working sessions and to define and ideate, align stakeholders, and enable confident decisions.
- Partner with design leadership: Collaborate closely with design, product, business, and field leadership across NYL to shape direction, maintain alignment with strategic objectives, and advocate for a cohesive, experience-led vision across teams.
