Senior Associate, Variable Annuity Product Management

Business Unit Overview

Be part of a dynamic product development team within Retail Annuities, supporting the variable annuity fund platform and helping pioneer innovative retirement solutions.

Role Overview:

New York Life is looking for a highly qualified individual for its Variable Annuity Product Management and Development Team. This role leads analysis of fund performance, due diligence, and manager selection of variable annuity subaccounts. This role will also lead analysis of the existing variable annuity suite and help develop new products.

What You’ll Do:

• Monitor fund platform integrity by providing oversight of portfolio performance and risk exposures
• Streamline and enhance investment reporting including senior management updates by delivering high quality investment reports on a multitude of portfolio characteristics as well as ad hoc internal and external investments inquiries
• Analyze large investment data sets and reconcile various data sources
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including representatives from marketing, project management, IT, legal, compliance and sales in executing product initiatives
• Research and analyze industry trends, competitors, and investment/product characteristics to support product development activity while alerting the appropriate stakeholders
• Formulate and articulate your own investment opinions in a collegial and intellectually rigorous environment
• Work closely with other relevant business areas and external investment management partners

What You’ll Bring:

• 4+ years’ experience in analytical investment related roles, such as reporting, product development analytics or research; progress towards a CFA is a plus
• Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to problem solve and analyze data and trends. Willingness to step outside of comfort zone to help the team address and adapt to evolving project needs
• Proven ability to succeed in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment
• Has a flexible and creative approach; enjoys working across the organization in a team-oriented environment. Ability to function well in a deadline driven environment
• Knowledge of variable annuities is preferred; knowledge of annuity business economics is a plus
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is expected. Knowledge in Morningstar Direct is a plus

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:  $100,000 - $130,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
