This Senior Associate, Benefits Health and Welfare role is an operational role for managing the date to day transactions of the Health and Welfare Plans at New York Life to ensure compliance with rules and regulations. The Plans are inclusive of more than 12,000 employees and 12,000 agents.  This role will be responsible for ensuring the data is correct, helping to handle escalated cases, and coordinating with internal groups and our external vendors on health and welfare activity.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide operational support and administration for the delivery of Health and Welfare (HW) benefits such as COBRA subsidy, FSA Escheatment and Agent Group Benefits terminations/refunds
  • Review the weekly HW files by pulling text files into Excel, parsing and doing compares. Coordinate with our third party administrator (TPA) for any variances that need to be resolved
  • Analyze files for the reporting and filing of government regulations , including the W2 file and the 1095C file
  • Research and respond to employee benefit issues, and the completion of required documents
  • Imputed Income calculations for Student Loan, Tuition reimbursement and day care usage
  • Imputed income calculations, benefit payment processing and communications for Retiree Life Insurance
  • Testing to ensure HW deductions are correct on paychecks including; annual enrollment testing, system update testing and compensation wage type implementation testing
  • Work with TPA to freeze benefits salary 2x per year Biannual coordination of benefit earnings with TPA  
  • Handle various projects as needed

 

Background & Qualifications

 

This position will play a significant role on the Benefits Operations team.  

 

  • Strong relationship management skills needed to coordinate with internal groups and our third party vendors
  • Proficient in Excel, the ability to utilize spreadsheets efficiently, work with large data sets, compare files and use advanced formulas
  • Knowledge of Health and Welfare benefit plans a must
  • Excellent analytical, communications, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree  required; and a minimum of 2-4 years of experience gained in a large organziation with scale and complexity.

Salary range: $72,500-$96,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
