Position:

NYL Investors is seeking a highly qualified professional to join our Public High Grade Corporate Research team within our Fixed Income Investors (FII) Group.  Fixed Income Investors is a multi-product fixed income asset management division of NYL Investors LLC. FII focuses on U.S. dollar-denominated debt in the following asset classes: investment grade credit securities, high yield bonds, senior secured floating rate loans, mortgage-backed, asset-backed and other structured securities, treasuries, agencies, and money market instruments.  FII provides a broad array of investment advisory services to affiliated insurance companies’ general and separate accounts and other affiliated corporate entities: third-party institutional clients, retail clients, investment companies and other pooled investment vehicles.

 

Responsibilities:

The associate will work closely with senior research analysts to perform fundamental credit analysis for a portfolio of investment grade industrial companies.  This will involve the monitoring of various industries, including changes or shifts in industry fundamentals that potentially effect company results and investment performance.  The associate will use financial models to analyze the capital structure and creditworthiness of existing and potential new investments, review and summarize offering memoranda, and present findings and recommendations to management.  In addition, the associate will work with portfolio management and trading professionals to assess relative value and evaluate new investment opportunities.  The associate will analyze new transactions applying sound credit analysis, financial analysis and research skills.  Associate responsibilities will also include the preparation of credit memorandums, the presentation of research findings to a credit committee, maintenance of timely reporting and documentation of transactions, and the preparation of topical presentations, portfolio reports and other special projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a concentration in Finance, Accounting, Math, Economics, Technology, or Engineering
  • Well-developed quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team with multiple reporting lines
  • 3+ years of experience in credit research involving both qualitative and quantitative analysis
