The Cybersecurity Risk Specialist is a key member of the Technology Risk team. The team is responsible for providing governance and oversight of Technology Risk domains, including the Cybersecurity Oversight program, which includes walkthroughs and assessments of program outcomes and deliverables, risk and controls, and reporting progress of evaluations to management. This individual will be responsible for independently validating whether controls and action plans adequately address Technology Risk, inclusive of regulatory expectations, in alignment with New York Life policies, standards and control requirements. This individual will also be responsible for conducting independent risk and control assessments.



  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology/Systems, Business Management, Finance, or related Field
  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience; CISSP, CISM, CRISC, or CISA preferred
  • Prior Audit, risk management, and/or consulting experience
  • Strong understanding of key industry control frameworks (NIST Cyber Security Framework, COSO, COBIT, ISO 27000, etc.)
  • Prior experience with designing and maintaining risk frameworks, managing, performing, and documenting business processses and technology processs walkthroughs 
  • This individual requires strong personal, communication, writing and organizational skills as they will be working closely with technology stakeholders across the organization
  •  Ability to communicate Technology assessment information to non-technical business leaders to ensure they comprehend the risk
  • Able to effectively communicate evaluation of risk remediation plans to action plan owners to ensure that mitigation activities are appropriately addressed
