NYL Investors - Business Overview:

Role Description:

The role is within the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Team and requires a professional with strong analytical skills, project management experience, and functional knowledge of asset management.  Prior ESG experience is not required, but conceptual understanding of responsible investing and application within an asset manager is desired. This role will require the professional to work closely with our investment and reporting teams and other ESG resources across NYL to support the execution of our ESG strategy. 


Role Responsibilities:

ESG Analyst

  • Contribute to the development and execution of ESG Strategy for NYL Investors
  • Stay current on ESG industry updates and trends to educate key stakeholders and evaluate relevance for NYL Investors
  • Work directly with investment teams to support the ongoing maintenance of the firm’s ESG rating methodology and integration
  • Assist the ESG Coordinator with responses to ESG related questions from various stakeholders
  • Develop materials and agendas for regular ESG committee meetings
  • Maintain ESG content in trading system and data warehouse
  • Facilitate completion of reporting requirements for the UN Principles of Responsible Investing (PRI) and additional frameworks adopted in the future
  • Organize internal ESG engagement opportunities and materials to educate employees on ESG relevance, goals and project status


Employment Background and required skill set:

  • Position is a Senior Associate level.
  • BA or BS required with concentrations in Business, Finance or Sustainability preferred.
  • 4-6 years of analytical experience within financial services industry.
  • Ability to influence and act as a change agent.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed income and real estate.
  • General understanding of ESG and applications within an asset manager.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Possess a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Results driven and not discouraged by obstacles.
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • MBA, CFA or progress towards completion.
