The senior asosciate will be part of the investment projections team, with key responsibilities in the projection and monitoring of actual and planned investment-related financial results across the investment portfolios in New York Life's general account.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Responsibilities

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Participate in design, maintenance and enhancement of projection model for investment income, asset allocation, and forward-looking yield expectations.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Coordinate investment projection efforts with other teams within the finance department and the businesses, as well as the investment areas.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Provide investment support to Finance senior management and the businesses. Including, but not limited to:
    • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Regular production of analyses of the unit’s investment portfolios
    • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Responding to ad-hoc requests, such as scenario analysis and investment activity updates
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Complete monthly analysis of portfolio yields, investment expenses, and other investment costs for use in crediting rate setting of multiple product lines.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Participate in corporate planning process by generating investment projections for the company’s portfolios.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Attribute portfolio performance, including actual to expected investment outcomes versus plan.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Support ALM analysis through development of<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"> investment models and analytics to be used in the development and implementation of portfolio hedging and investment strategies.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Monitor the investment portfolios for compliance with investment policies and guidelines.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Qualifications

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Highly developed quantitative and analytical skills
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Bachelor’s degree or higher in quantitative area
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Proficiency with Excel (VBA a strong plus)
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Some programming background in any of Python, R, C++, a strong plus
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Ability to work independently
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Familiarity of fixed income investment a strong plus
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">CFA or progress toward a CFA a plus
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Familiarity with insurance company finance and liabilities
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">Experience with financial reporting and large data processes (a plus)
