Within Operational Risk Management the Corporate Resilience Training & Administration Associate is responsible for developing, coordinating, facilitating training program and delivery needs (classroom, intranet aids, e-learning tools) that support Incident Management, Business Continuity and Data Center Recovery (referred to Business Continuity Management) programs for domestic and international business partners. S/he will also be responsible for preparedness awareness campaigns and internal and external compliance and regulatory reporting related to Corporate Resilience policies, programs and procedures. Performance will be measured on accountability for on-time, high quality delivery of these projects, measured by department objectives, project milestones and requests for assistance.  To successfully accomplish this goal, the successful candidate will craft, with guidance, training modules (using NYL templates) for business areas that meet or exceed best practice and/or regulatory training requirements for Incident Management team members, Business Continuity Coordinators and Business Participants in Data Center Recovery exercises. Through training guidance, the goal is to help ensure the planning and execution for each recovery scenario and strategy for Business Continuity Management is thoroughly and successfully integrated into the training, awareness for developing and executing recovery plans. 

The Training & Administration Associate will report directly to CVP, Corporate Resilience. S/he will work closely with business continuity coordinators, business management, third party service providers and teams within Operational Risk to ensure alignment with current risk assessments, change management, policy/procedure/programs and actions required before, during and after recovery is declared remain current in the plans.   

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure the input required to evaluate the Business Continuity & Recovery policy, program and reporting protocol aligns with both business and Operational Risk strategic roadmaps.
  • Using training feedback, continuously assesses implementation risks, priorities, resource requirements, critical dependencies and assumptions underlying projects to ensure timely and effective execution.
  • Using training feedback, collaborates across Corporate, Business, Technology and external resources to ensure consistent content, understanding and execution of all business continuity & recovery plans
  • Using training feedback, assists in evolving and refining business continuity management framework to ensure changes in operating models and internal processes are reflected in a timely manner.
  • Ensures the business continuity program, training presentations, materials and support documentation deliver consistent business value and maintain alignment with the goals of Operational Risk Management
  • Works effectively and collaboratively with Operational Risk, business continuity coordinators, business management and participates in continuous improvement efforts
  • Drives a culture of attention to risk excellence, quality, and continuous self-assessment to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards

 

 

Experience

  • 2-3 years in business continuity, data center recovery and/or incident management training
  • Certification desired, Associate Business Continuity Professional

 

 

  • Demonstrate the ability to identify and communicate recovery program needs

 

  • Proficient/knowledgeable in operational risk themes, business continuity, emergency management and data center recovery
  • Understands importance of measuring performance and participant feedback

 

  • Proficient in use of MS Office, Visio, database management software used for documentation, training presentations and department reporting purposes
  • Strong ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision

 

 

  • Demonstrate strong organization and writing skills, ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Successfully demonstrated the ability for cross team collaboration with a focus on doing what is right for the company
  • Familiarity with domestic and international regulations and standards that pertain to Business Continuity Management, (ex. ISO 22301, NFPA 1600)
  • Familiarity with test scripts, management reporting and supporting conflict resolution assessments

  • Clear understanding of escalation protocol, risk priorities and people, property, asset protection communication skills (internal/external)
  • Working knowledge of ISO 22301, Business Continuity Management and NFPA 1600

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Emergency Management, Engineering or Sciences or similar background
