Team Description:

The Organizational Effectiveness team at New York Life is responsible for carrying out individual, group, and organization-level assessment activities in support of HR talent management priorities and business talent requirements. Reporting to the Head of Talent Management, the group uses archival data analysis, survey, and interview techniques to support New York Life’s talent initiatives. In addition, Organizational Effectiveness works with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and other HR Centers of Excellence to execute core enterprise-wide talent processes such as performance management, succession planning, talent reviews, and organization-wide surveys. The group also provides consultative support to the Company’s business units and functions on customized talent planning projects.

Role Overview:

  • The Senior Associate, Organizational Effectiveness role will lead key data-based talent management initiatives to ensure that surveys, assessments, and other organizational effectiveness tools and processes are optimally delivered. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing solutions that are innovative, efficient, and add value across the company. This role will report to the Head of Organization Effectiveness.


Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full life-cycle (i.e., design, planning, administration, reporting/interpretation, action planning) of organizational talent management surveys and assessments
  • Lead the administration of the company’s employee engagement survey and support action planning across departments
  • Perform basic-to-intermediate level statistical analysis on survey, assessment, and other people-related data (e.g., descriptives, correlations, significance, etc.)
  • Partner with HRBPs, Talent Leads, HR Analytics, and key leaders to conduct needs analyses and ensure successful utilization and adaptation of OE solutions for lines of business
  • Advise HRBPs and Talent Leads on the appropriateness/use of talent assessment tools
  • Support the design and delivery of talent management & diversity executive presentation materials, including aggregate enterprise-wide analyses, feedback reports for surveys and assessments, and corporate talent review and succession planning charts
  • Support the design and delivery of the company’s annual talent & organization planning activities (i.e., performance management, talent review, succession planning, executive promotion)
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of executive and high-potential development programs
  • Perform and synthesize best practice research related to strategic HR, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, and similar areas
  • Support special projects as assigned


Required Education, Experience, and Other Characteristics:

  • BA/BS degree from a four-year accredited university with specialized coursework in I/O Psychology or related discipline; an MA/MS degree is preferred
  • Background in intermediate statistical concepts and analysis procedures (i.e., descriptive statistics, correlations, regression)
  • Experience using spreadsheet and other data analysis software; proficiency with MS Excel, SPSS/R is preferred
  • Familiarity with common psychometric and talent assessment instruments (e.g., Hogan)
  • Strong consultation and communication skills
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Able to build good working relationships with others inside and outside of HR
  • Previous work experience in an internal or external talent development or individual/team assessment role is preferred
