Senior Associate - Portfolio Analyst

 

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week 

 

 

Reporting to Agile Operating Model Transformation Lead , you will serve as a central orchestrator of portfolio planning, tracking, governance, and analytics. In this role, you’ll collaborate across technology, strategy, finance, and delivery teams to ensure aligned priorities, transparent reporting, and efficient execution. Importantly, you will also support Value Stream Portfolio Managers by enabling processes and tooling adoption that improve planning, execution, and reporting discipline.

What You’ll Do
Portfolio Oversight & Strategic Alignment
• Support quarterly and annual planning cycles, coordinating alignment across technology domains and value streams.
• Maintain a portfolio calendar, governance rhythms, and status cadences to ensure visibility and structure.
• Facilitate or support key ceremonies—planning syncs, capacity forums, and executive updates—enabling data-driven decision-making.
• Track and communicate portfolio KPIs such as delivery velocity, predictability, milestone health, value realization, and capacity utilization.
• Collaborate with Finance and Product Management to reconcile budgets, actuals, projected burn, and funding alignment.
• Identify dependencies, risks, and resource conflicts—coordinating resolution or escalating as needed.

Analytics & Reporting
• Aggregate program and value stream data into executive dashboards, heat maps, and insights using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Smartsheet).
• Ensure portfolio data integrity across systems (e.g., Jira, Tempo, Apptio, Planview, Aha!), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and traceability.
• Deliver scheduled and ad hoc reporting for leadership, PMO sponsors, and business stakeholders.
• Monitor trend metrics and early indicators (e.g., flow, throughput, utilization) to uncover delivery inefficiencies or bottlenecks.

Governance & Process Enablement
• Uphold governance standards (prioritization frameworks, funding approvals, reporting cadences) consistently across initiatives.
• Refine portfolio management processes for clarity, repeatability, and enterprise-wide adoption.
• Support Value Stream Portfolio Managers by enabling process and tooling best practices—creating templates, dashboards, and workflows tailored to value stream needs while maintaining enterprise consistency.

Cross-Team Collaboration, Capacity Management & Engagement
• Partner across value streams to align plans, capacity, and sequencing of shared dependencies.
• Assist planning forums to ensure strategic goals are synchronized with delivery timing and resource availability.
• Communicate trade-offs among scope, resources, and timelines to set realistic expectations with stakeholders.
• Maintain capacity and resource models that forecast demand and highlight constraints across skill areas.
• Provide insights on workforce availability, utilization, and allocation to support staffing and investment decisions.
• Identify and mitigate shared-resource conflicts to optimize throughput and delivery predictability.
• Actively contribute to Portfolio Communities of Practice, sharing learnings, improving processes, and evolving tooling.
• Champion transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement across delivery forums and planning cycles.

What You’ll Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field. Advanced degree (MBA) preferred.
• 4-5+ years in portfolio, program, or PMO management, especially supporting enterprise-wide delivery.
• Hands-on experience with portfolio systems (Clarity, Planview, Jira, Monday.dev), and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Smartsheet).
• Strong analytical fluency—skilled at turning data into decision-grade insights.
• Proven track record coordinating across finance, technology, and business stakeholders in complex environments.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and facilitation skills.
• Curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset—eager to learn and help mature NYL’s evolving operating model.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $97,500-$139,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
