Position Overview

The Senior Index Analyst will work closely with other members of the Index team, the Portfolio Management team and our external index partners as the primary point of contact for all index related queries and issues.  The Analyst will have regular daily index monitoring responsibilities as well as monthly/quarterly responsibilities related to index rebalances.  Additionally, he/she will also be expected to analyze the current workflow processes, identify potential areas for improvement and recommend and help implement solutions that are in line with industry best-practices.  As such, the ideal candidate will have experience working in an index operations environment and would be seeking an opportunity to build upon their experience.  The position will be based in New York Life’s midtown Manhattan home office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining all indexes underlying the company’s ETFs, Mutual Funds, and SMAs.  This includes implementing periodic index rebalances, ensuring daily accuracy / quality control of indexes, and monitoring and adjusting for corporate actions and related index changes.
  • Communicating index updates and changes to the Portfolio Management team and to our external index partners.
  • Work with the Index team and NYLIM boutiques to help develop and maintain new investable indexes underlying ETFs, Mutual Funds and SMAs to be offered by the company.
  • Create and disseminate reports and other information relating to the company’s indexes internally and externally.
  • Assess the current workflow and recommend solutions to develop a robust platform that can be used to leverage future growth.

Qualifications

  • Work experience in the financial services sector (3-5 years) including 1-3 years of experience working in indexing
  • Prior experience with FTSE, S&P, NASDAQ and Solactive a plus
  • Knowledge of securities related data as it applies to both equities and fixed income instruments
  • Technology orientation including experience automating and streamlining processes (programming and data base skills highly preferable).  Very strong MS Excel and VB skills are a must
  • FactSet and/or Bloomberg experience preferred
  • Attention to detail and diligence is critical
  • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a team-oriented environment
  • Entrepreneurial spirit/self-starter
