Tax Qualified Plans/Advanced Income Solutions Specialist – Retail Annuities


This position will be responsible for the day-to-day strategic operations of all Tax Qualified Plans using annuities as a funding vehicle. This includes 403b, SIMPLE IRA, SEP IRA, Traditional IRA, Roth IRA, Inherited IRA, and other miscellaneous retirement plans. Some knowledge of these plans is desired, but not necessary as the candidate will be encouraged to enroll educational courses to expand their knowledge.  The position will also require the individual to become a subject matter expert on all New York Life annuity offerings.  The candidate must have advanced analytical skills and a strong foundational knowledge of back office like administration systems. The candidate must be comfortable working in a collaborative work setting, that touches multiple areas of the Retail Annuities business.  Outside communication with Third Party vendors will also be part of the job function. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for 403b plan audits-excel based reports, which must be created and sent to various third-party administrators.
  • Support functions to ensure New York Life agents, Sales Desk, Investment Solution Consultants are well versed in all aspects of tax qualified plans. Eventually develop into a Subject Matter Expert in retirement plans and all NYL annuity offerings.
  • Ensure that all marketing materials are updated with new annual IRS contribution limits and revised regulations.
  • Create and maintain analytics and metrics for the tax qualified plan sales as needed
  • Support the communication strategies that drive education and value of the 403b market, small business retirement plans and individual retirement accounts.
  • Special projects as assigned and necessary.
  • When needed, provide annuity competitive intelligence to Advisors/Agents on all NYL Annuity Products, which supports the core Advanced Income Solutions team


Required Qualifications and Experience  

  • Series 6 or 7, 63 or 66 FINRA licenses and Life and Health Insurance licenses
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • General annuity and retirement industry knowledge
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel programming-reports, tables data management.  
  • Excellent working knowledge of NYL administrative systems- Cyberlife, rPay, OAS, DMS, Salesforce.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.  A core function of the role is communication with our Product Consultants, captive Agents, other various sales partners, and external partners-third party administrators.
  • Basic knowledge of ERISA and IRS regulations governing retirement plans. (optional)
  • The ability to lead small projects with internal clients and external vendors 
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to identify and assess problems and escalate when necessary.
  • Able to collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively.     




Salary range: $72,500-$107,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
