The User Experience Designer & Researcher role is critical in the growth of user experience in the Client Servicing group at New York Life.  The ideal candidate will have an interest in facilitating end-to-end UX best practices, gaining hands-on experience, and being a core contributor in driving the organization toward a more user-centered approach. We would like you to successfully deliver user-tested & development-ready products while balancing competing priorities.  Building strong partnerships with other designers and business partners will be key to success.

 

Responsibilities:

  • UX design & research for digital service products and engagement campaigns that impact our customers, agents, and service professionals.
  • Utilize research tools to moderate user feedback sessions, synthesize insights, and make recommendations. Report on competitive and comparative features, patterns, and design trends.
  • Create, iterate and collaborate on research, user-flows, journey maps, competitor feature analysis, and initial concept designs to high fidelity designs with functional specifications.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with product and agile teams to research, problem-solve, review, and iterate.
  • Organize, prioritize and project manage design deliverables from early requirements gathering through development handoff and validation of design in development.
  • Create and collaborate on strategic presentations and infographics for executive audiences.
  • Champion UX best practices when collaborating with stakeholders and technology to advance the usability and utility of our digital products.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; High School Diploma or GED required
  • 2+ years of experience in UX design, product design, or visual design
  • Familiar with user research, design thinking, and digital customer experience design
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in adapting to change across broad and complex organizations
  • Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required

 

Technical Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing standard design and research tools (e.g. UserTesting, Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision) required
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes and methodologies, to include working with an iteration-based development process
