The UX Designer is a key collaborative role in the design and development of New York Life's Digital Service group’s modernization and growth of its products. It will directly impact the consumer and agent experience, from defining digital workflows, new features for online consumer accounts and optimized interfaces that impact our consumer service centers.

This role is critical in the building of a digital organization and digital disciplines at New York Life.  This person must have an interest in identifying and learning UX best practices, gaining hands-on experience and being a core contributor in driving an organization toward a more user-centered design thinking approach. They must be able to multitask and stay in touch with a variety of projects in play.  Strong relationship skills are required to build trust and partnership across the organization.


  • UX design for digital service products that impact our customers, agents and service professionals
  • Create, iterate and collaborate on research, user-flows, journey maps, competitor feature analysis, and initial concept designs to full wireframes with functional specifications
  • Understanding and use research tools to moderating user feedback sessions, synthesizing insights, identifying design recommendations.
  • Report on competitive and comparative features, patterns and design trends.
  • Champion UX best practices when collaborating with stakeholders and technology to advance usability and utility of our digital products.
  • Identify, analyze and use data-driven insights, and user-testing findings to drive strategy and requirements
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with product and agile team to research, problem-solve, review, iterate, and QA work in development
  • Organize, prioritize and project manage design deliverable from early requirements gathering thru development handoff and QA of design in development



  • Education: Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+  years of experience in digital user experience design.
  • Comfortable with user research, design thinking, digital customer experience design.
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven success influencing and working effectively through flexibility, and adaptability across broad and complex organizations.


Technical Expertise

  • Familiarity with standard design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision
  • Insurance industry experience preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with Agile software development processes and methodologies, knowledge of working with an iteration-based development process.
