Role Overview:
The Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) Strategy, Solutions & Marketing (SS&M) internship is a 10-week long program located in either our Chattanooga or Philadelphia office. Our program provides an opportunity for interns to gain insight into different areas of expertise to aid in their career search, learn about New York Life’s business values and experience a corporate environment, collaborate on project work across the organization, and participate in professional development activities to further their skills.
This program is designed for interns to gain practical experience and partake in thought-provoking projects in our Product, Learning and Knowledge Management (L&KM), Marketing, and Project Management centers of excellence (COEs). The GBS intern cohort will partake in activities such as volunteering and social events to develop their identify at New York Life.
This internship opportunity will be hybrid, located at our Philadelphia, PA office.
What You’ll Do:
As an SS&M intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in professional development and networking workshops, gain insight into our business and receive hands-on experience through real projects by working on a team of experienced leaders. Depending on your role, our projects may include communication support, product management, project planning and documentation, and creative design support.
What you’ll bring:
We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive Project Management Intern to join the Group Benefit Solutions Project Management organization. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced project managers and gain hands-on experience in project planning, execution, and monitoring. This internship is designed to provide you with real-world project management skills, develop your leadership abilities, and prepare you for a successful career in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Collaborate with senior project managers to create project plans, schedules, and budgets. Learn to identify project goals, objectives, and deliverables.
- Project Documentation: Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, progress reports, and change requests. Learn to keep accurate records of project activities.
- Stakeholder Communication: Interact with project team members and other stakeholders. Communicate project status and updates effectively.
- Task Coordination: Support in coordinating project tasks, ensuring deadlines and milestones are met. Learn to identify potential issues and risks.
- Risk Management: Help in identifying and analyzing project risks. Contribute to the development of risk mitigation strategies.
- Project Tools and Software: Gain proficiency in project management software and tools, including Microsoft Project or similar platforms.
Required Skills:
- Must be a rising junior or senior at an accredited 4-year university or college with anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026, pursuing a degree in business, project management, engineering, or a related field
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools (e.g.: Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and eager to learn
- Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively
Preferred Skills:
- 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
- Goal oriented and career-focused, with a customer-centric mindset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced sales environment with an interest in pursuing a career in Sales or Account Management
- Basic knowledge of project management concepts is a plus, but not mandatory
Pay Transparency
Salary range: $21
Overtime eligible: Nonexempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
Sales bonus eligible: No
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
