Role Overview:

The Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) Strategy, Solutions & Marketing (SS&M) internship is a 10-week long program located in either our Chattanooga or Philadelphia office. Our program provides an opportunity for interns to gain insight into different areas of expertise to aid in their career search, learn about New York Life’s business values and experience a corporate environment, collaborate on project work across the organization, and participate in professional development activities to further their skills.

This program is designed for interns to gain practical experience and partake in thought-provoking projects in our Product, Learning and Knowledge Management (L&KM), Marketing, and Project Management centers of excellence (COEs). The GBS intern cohort will partake in activities such as volunteering and social events to develop their identify at New York Life.

 

What You’ll Do:

As an SS&M intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in professional development and networking workshops, gain insight into our business and receive hands-on experience through real projects by working on a team of experienced leaders. Depending on your role, our projects may include communication support, product management, project planning and documentation, and creative design support.

  • Project Management- Assist senior project managers in creating project plans, schedules, and budgets, while maintaining project documentation, coordinating tasks, communicating with stakeholders, and contributing to risk management and the use of project management software.

 

  • Employee Engagement- Support creative design for employee-facing materials including infographics, templates, playbooks, and videos; enhance intranet design and functionality through research, planning, testing, and collaboration; establish learning governance processes across the organization; and coordinate internal employee engagement events.

 

  • Knowledge Management - Provide comprehensive support in writing and publishing shared business knowledge, lead and participate in knowledge management (KM) initiatives, design tools and processes for KM activities, assist business area personnel in executing KM responsibilities, and contribute to innovations in KM processes, practices, analytics, and reporting.

 

  • Marketing - Support the development of digital and traditional marketing collateral by assisting with graphic design, video production, and copywriting for presentations, brochures, flyers, social media posts, email campaigns, and other materials, collaborating closely with the graphic design team and providing general support to the marketing team on daily tasks and projects.

 

  • Product - Participate or lead initiatives within the Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) Product organization, managing inclusive GBS products, capabilities, and customer experiences through cross-functional collaboration across IT, Operations, Product, Finance, and other divisions, offering an opportunity for strategic individuals to drive results and support daily operations of the Product team.

 

What You’ll Bring:

You bring excellent written and oral communication skills, a strong desire to learn and identify improvement opportunities and the ability to think strategically and analytically.

 

Required Skills:

  • You must be a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university

Preferred Skills:

    • Preferred majors include Business, Marketing, Communications, Project Management, Economics or related majors
    • Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and video editing is a plus for marketing roles
    • Prior internship experience is a plus, but not required

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $21 

Overtime eligible: Nonexempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
