Background

New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) are embarking upon a major financial technology modernization journey, with a multi-million dollar project underway to migrate or replace numerous legacy financial systems and integrate them into GBS’ end-state cloud-based data solution and NYL’s end-state general ledger (GL).  The financial data underlying the new GL and supporting applications are fundamental to delivering top class actuarial services and insights.  This important role will ensure that the needs of the GBS actuarial team are understood and met.

 

Key Responsibilities

In order to effectively support this work effort, the successful candidate will partner closely with the actuarial, accounting, IT and integration management teams to:

  • Determine and document the actuarial team’s needs and requirements for the new and migrating systems and sources of data.
  • Review and provide feedback on the proposed solution design.
  • Document the robust financial control environment which will ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness of the solution.
  • Perform testing that will ensure that the solution meets the requirements of the team.
  • Assist the actuarial team in rebuilding existing tools and processes to utilize the new data sources and systems.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field.
  • Pursuing designation from the Society of Actuaries.
  • Strong technical and data analysis skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to make connections and identify similar concepts in problems / processes that are presented separately.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to audiences with similar backgrounds.
