New York Life’s Group Benefit Solutions team is seeking a Group Pricing Actuary for a new key position in our organization. This individual will play a critical role in developing Supplemental Health products pricing. Good partnerships with key functional areas and a collaborative mindset are important to be successful. This role will report to the Vice President & Actuary of Group Pricing.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Strategic role, leading the direction and activities related to pricing development for Supplemental Health Group insurance products.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to ensure appropriate pricing, and to influence positive decision making outcomes.
  • Responsible for all aspects of pricing, including assumption development, profitability modeling, governance reviews, filings, and implementation while aligning to group products’ profitability, growth and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with key business partners such as Underwriting, Distribution, Product, Claims, Finance, IT and Compliance.
  • Provide effective communications and presentations of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or Actuarial Science.
  • Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
  • 8+ years of actuarial experience, with strong preference for prior Supplemental Health group pricing experience.
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, with proficiency in summarizing key trends and findings.
  • Ability to write clear communications, including documentation of pricing assumptions.
  • Advanced communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with business partners.
