Role Summary

 

The IT Delivery Lead is highly critical and visible role within Group Benefit Solution (GBS), NYL’s Strategic Line of Business (SIB).  As an IT Delivery Lead, you will be part of a high-visibility portfolio of projects, working on leading edge initiatives.

 

IT Delivery Lead is a senior position within GBS IT and as a senior member of the team, the individual could be required to play different strategic roles within the organization including, but not limited to Scrum Master, Project Manager, Environment Delivery Lead, Quality Assurance Lead, and so forth. This role also offers a unique opportunity to assist in building and maturing a new and evolving practice, including the definition of new processes and deliverables to help build effective and efficient delivery operating model

 

The primarily responsibilities will be developing program level plans for delivery of program initiatives or workstream of within large program typically to launch of new products, providing new services and capabilities to GBS clients and customers, transformation initiatives, or enterprise technology programs.  As a Delivery Lead, you will be responsible for developing and tracking overall program/workstream plan, identify and track key dependencies and milestones, identify, monitor, and drive overall risks and issues to resolution.  This critical leadership role is expected to partner with Program Leadership Team, Program Operating Committee, Agile Release Train, Scrum Teams, Platform Teams, and System Teams within Program or across GBS Delivery Organization

You are an accomplished PM and skilled problem solver who can motivate change as well as a strategic thinker who understands the big picture. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for building and maintaining process documentation, program standard methodologies, and metrics for planning and delivering large-scale, complex strategic initiatives often involve a matrix of constituents as well as external delivery partners through all phases of the SDLC.
  • Responsible for managing, directing, and planning one, but occasionally more than one, complex projects consisting of one or more project teams.
  • Develop overall high-level program milestone schedule, plan and identify across program and organization dependencies by partnering with Program ART team including Release Train Engineer and Product Manager, Responsible for tracking and managing across program, milestones and dependencies and reporting of program progress
  • Apply Agile methodology in building backlog, conducting grooming and prioritization ceremonies, help team in defining user stories and identifying optimal delivery sequencing.
  • Managing, tracking, and reporting of program risks, issues and drive resolution with overall program leadership team and program ART teams on regular cadence
  • Anticipate potential problems and proactively initiate a corrective action plan to circumvent a potential problem and maintain critical path objectives.
  • Proactively participate to mature processes of the Agile model and methodology within the organization
  • Disciplined with scope management and change control; assesses and evaluates scope changes for feasibility and impacts on commitments
  • Develop framework to track overall program progress including system implementer completion of commercial milestones by tracking overall acceptance criteria and program performance metrics; tracks and communicates out on benefit realization 
  • Negotiates and manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters.
  • Tracks project financials; effective at resource and capacity planning; exceptional at identifying risks, issues, and mitigation plans
  • Builds an environment of trust, collaboration, and openness among peers and other team members. Shares lessons learned, perceptions, and best practices openly with an eye towards continuous process improvement
  • Proposes recommendations and adjustments to project delivery and related solutions throughout the life of the initiative
  • Responsible to communicate clearly at all levels of stakeholders to ensure transparency and clarity and bring forward any tradeoffs opportunities required keeping big picture to mitigate risks, while keeping overall objective and strategic goals in mind

 

Qualifications

  • Assertive, responsible for his/her own work (self-directed), have a strong affinity for defining work in deliverables, and willingness to commit to deadlines

  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity, poise, maturity and precision both written and verbally
  • Experience in managing project and program management using Agile delivery methodologies (Safe, Scrum and Kanban)
  • Proficient in collaboration tools like Rally, Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge and experience in Group Insurance (Disability, Life and Accident) a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science and Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred
