Head of NYL GBS Transformation and Enablement Office

 

Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per week 

 

 

* This position is primarily hybrid for candidates based in Chattanooga, TN; New York, NY; or Philadelphia, PA. However, we may consider remote candidates located elsewhere in the U.S. depending on experience and alignment with team needs. 

 

Role Overview:

 

The Head of the New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) Transformation Office will serve as the strategic and executional lead driving efforts to define, execute, and scale reimagine initiatives.  The leader will oversee the transformation vision and drive integration of efforts across business functions, ensuring that initiatives align with the division’s strategic goals, drive measurable business value, and are implemented responsibly and effectively.  The role combines strategic focus, relentless execution, and a consistent disciplined approach. 

 

In partnership with internal business leaders and external stakeholders, this leader will ensure that AI-enabled capabilities empower process and role evolution while translating into tangible business outcomes—enhancing distribution effectiveness, deepening client relationships, and powering differentiated experiences and efficiency across the value chain. 

 

The ideal candidate is a visionary who can deliver near-term wins, an influencer who can mobilize across a matrixed enterprise, and a disciplined operator who ensures AI drives measurable business value responsibly and at scale.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

Strategic focus:

  • Define, build, and scale the GBS AI transformation and enablement office, including strategy development, program management, execution, change enablement, and value realization functions.
  • Act as the chief evangelist for AI – inspiring adoption internally and positioning the organization externally as a market leader in responsible, data-driven transformation.
  • Champion AI literacy, culture, and storytelling, driving brand evolution toward an AI- and data-first organization recognized for its innovation, thought leadership, and market eminence.
  • Develop, own, and communicate a clear transformation strategy integrating technology including AI, Gen AI, and agentic AI with process and role evolution, which aligns with GBS’ vision of service excellence while remaining hyper-focused on value.
  • Accountable to deeply understand internal and external GBS stakeholders to develop a multi-year roadmap that supports improved experiences, efficiency, and differentiation.
  • Responsible for making business cases, seeking organizational buy-in and securing funding for key initiatives; prioritizes investments based on value, stakeholder need, and capacity.
  • Gain executive buy-in for transformation efforts, ensuring alignment across departments.

 

Relentless execution:

  • Leads and mentors a team of both direct reports as well as matrix partners in the design, development, and delivery of transformation initiatives. 
  • Drives the prioritization of capabilities based on value - driving operational efficiency, customer experience, and innovation. 
  • Ensure coordination across GBS business and IT teams to accelerate adoption, avoid duplication, and maximize outcomes.
  • Develop and drive change management and communication strategies to foster adoption of new systems, processes, and behaviors across the organization.
  • In partnership with key businesses, ignite roadmap items to life via user stories/requirements and executing test and learns to deliver optimal outcomes for initiatives enabling execution of roadmap deliverables. 
  • Drives and/or empowers key business decisions regarding execution and roll out plans engaging key leaders and SME’s as needed.

 

Disciplined approach:

  • Establish processes, KPIs, and governance structures to monitor progress and accountability as well as frameworks and standards for responsible AI adoption.
  • Evaluate and manage strategic partnerships with AI vendors, consulting partners, and research organizations to bring innovation into execution.
  • Build business KPIs tied to efficiency, growth, and customer outcomes. 
  • Track and report impact, ensuring initiatives deliver expected business value.
  • Accountable for transformation team budget, inclusive of internal and vendor business spend; evaluates spend for value and adjusts as needed.

 

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12+ years of experience implementing transformational initiatives; proven success leading enterprise-scale AI or data initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of Group Insurance, Life & Annuities, and/or Financial Services business models, operations, and value drivers.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and influence skills, with a track record of mobilizing cross-functional teams and driving organizational change within complex, matrixed environments.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, establish clarity, and drive tangible results in dynamic or rapidly evolving contexts.
  • Ability to connect AI and data initiatives to business outcomes such as growth, customer experience, productivity, and risk management.
  • Future mindset but willingness to jump in, own work, and make meaningful short-term progress.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to be innovative and test and learn concepts validating hypothesizes.
  • Established ability to leverage marketplace knowledge and experience to consult, make prioritization, and trade off decisions, and make recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Market-aware and externally connected, leveraging ecosystem insights to inform prioritization, shape the roadmap, and advise senior leadership on opportunities, partnerships, and competitive positioning.

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $156,000-$223,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
