Role Overview:

This internship provides an opportunity for interns to gain insight into our Group Benefit Solutions department and New York Life’s business values and experience a corporate environment, while collaborating on project work across the organization, and participate in professional development activities to further their skills.
The internship will start as early as May 2026. This is a part-time internship that requires a minimum of 15-20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours during the summer.
Location: Our Pittsburgh office is in the Strip District with free parking! Summer housing will not be provided. Interns are able to work remotely or hybrid in office on Wednesdays.
What You’ll Do:
The Intern will work in our Accidental Death and Dismemberment department to assist Accident Specialists in the day to day claim investigation operations. Primary duties will include contacting police departments, medical examiner/coroner’s offices, hospitals and doctor’s offices via phone, fax, and mail to initiate requests as well as ensure that investigative reports and medical records requests are processed timely. Experienced interns may assist in general correspondence tasks as needed as well as various other claim related projects.

Preferred Skills:
- College undergraduate actively pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree with an expected graduation date of 2027 or 2028.
- Able to work 40 hours per week during the summer and minimum of 15 hours per week is required during the academic year.
- Effective team player with collaborative skills
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities
- Preferred background in customer service, including proficiency in phone communication
- Interest in forensics
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as: Word, Excel, Outlook

Pay Transparency
Salary range: $21/ hour
