Who we are:

New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYLGBS) works with businesses and their employees to help provide financial security, peace of mind, and market-leading outcomes. Our Sales Reps and Account Executives cultivate relationships within their assigned territory or block of business with insurance brokers, as well as current and prospective clients. In these roles, Sales Reps and Account Executives act as a consultative resource to offer NYLGBS products and services to address any benefit concerns their brokers and/or clients may have.


What you’ll do

Immerse yourself in an 8-week program, running from mid-June to early August, designed to provide you with hands-on exposure to the competitive, fast-paced environment of a career in Sales or Account Management within NYLGBS. As part of our internship program, you will have a direct impact on the business results of your assigned Regional Field Office while helping us deliver on a long-standing commitment of providing financial protection to the millions we serve.


Over the course of the program, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Learn the fundamentals of Field Sales and Account Management during two weeks of Field Office assignments
  • Shadow NYL GBS professionals across Field Sales, Account Management, Underwriting, Marketing and Operations
  • Rotate across assignments and broaden your knowledge of the NYLGBS organization
  • Develop and grow your skills through one-on-one mentorship with a local Account Executive, engagement opportunities with senior management, networking opportunities, and routine speaker series,
  • Collaborate with GBS interns from around the country on a summer long project that challenges your problem-solving, innovation, and teamwork skills



What you’ll bring

Fresh and progressive points of view and skills with the curiosity and willingness to apply them to critical work efforts across our company. You should also have:

  • Completed 3 years towards a bachelor’s degree (rising senior) in Business, Economics, Risk Management or related fields
  • 3.0 GPA or higher preferred
  • Goal oriented and career-focused, with a customer-centric mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced sales environment with an interest in pursuing a career in Sales or Account Management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps, especially Microsoft Word and Excel

Salary range: $21 per hour

Overtime eligible: Nonexempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
