The Life Actuarial Analytics team is focused on delivering essential actuarial and financial analytics to support the strategic direction of the Life business. Using actuarial models and financial information, the team analyzes the economics of our business and the underlying drivers. These analytics are used to influence the direction for new product development, in-force management and strategic initiatives, as well as satisfying specific regulatory requirements.

 

This role on the Life Actuarial Analytics team is perfect for deepening or expanding actuarial, financial and regulatory expertise, while providing solutions to a diverse array of issues. The role will interact with people from product management, reinsurance, underwriting, illustration and system areas and will act as a valued partner and advisor to various business areas, while protecting the interest of both our policy owners and the Company.

 

Job Function and Key Responsibilities

 

  • Be responsible for quarterly NYLIAC Value of New Business (VNB) development and annual NYLIAC Non-Guaranteed Elements (NGE) and Discipline Current Scale (DCS) testing
  • Opportunity to contribute on upcoming projects and initiatives that require actuarial analysis/input (e.g., key underwriting initiatives, life inforce business management strategies, and reinsurance treaty evaluation)
  • Produce actuarial reports that will support internal governance committees and external regulators
  • Collaboration with broader finance community (Pricing, OCA, Experience Studies, Reinsurance) and other business partners (Product Management, Underwriting, Agent Compensation)
  • Managerial development opportunity (2 actuarial students)

 

Qualifications

 

  • FSA with minimum of 5 years work experience
  • Prophet modeling experience preferred
  • Ability to organize complex processes, handle multiple tasks, and deal with shifting priorities, all within demanding time schedules
  • Ability to find innovative solutions and be a self-starter
  • Excellent relationship building and collaboration skills
  • Strong analytical and communication (both written and verbal) skills
