New York Life’s Group Benefit Solutions team is seeking a Group Pricing Actuary for a key role in the organization. This individual will play a critical role focused on ensuring accurate pricing formulas and methodologies are in place to support profitable growth. Good partnerships with key functional areas and a collaborative mindset is important to be successful.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Pricing responsibilities for one or more of the following Group Insurance products- Life, Accident, Disability, Absence.
  • Lead, mentor and train actuarial students.
  • Responsible for developing and enhancing complex actuarial analyses to support the group products’ profitability, growth and operational objectives.
  • Develop and improve pricing methodologies, models, and tools.
  • Perform in-depth reviews of manual rating formulas, experience rating methods and retention assumptions such as expenses. Analyze and enhance pricing formulas to ensure accuracy, including reviewing for emerging trends.
  • Ensure compliance of all pricing formulas, including responsibilities for rate filings, certifications, and accurate implementation in our systems.
  • Develop pricing for new product features or new products as needed.
  • Collaborate with and support key business partners such as Underwriting, Distribution, Product, Claims, Finance, IT and Compliance. In particular, closely work with and provide pricing support for our Underwriting team.
  • Provide clear communications and presentations of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or Actuarial Science.
  • Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience, with preference for group disability pricing experience.
  • Experience managing actuarial students.
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, with ability to summarize key trends and findings.
  • Advanced communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with business partners.
