Reporting to the Head of Product or the Product COE Lead, this position will support the build out and definition of the Fineos product vision and roadmap, lead key initiatives in support of the roadmap, and lead cross functional teams of internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver on the vision.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health management or related field; with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the group insurance industry.
  • Proven track record of developing strong relationships with matrix partners, distribution and vendors.
  • Ability to identify strategic needs and lead with little or no direction, resource key projects, and drive sound business direction based on market findings.
  • Open minded and creative – seeks ‘out of box’ solutions.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Goal oriented and personally accountable; resourceful and self-directed.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment.
  • Act with agility and start up mentality; be prepared to engage quickly, switch gears, and take the next best action.
  • Strong knowledge of Absence (FML, PFML, Company Leaves, STD) required; Fineos knowledge preferred.
  • Proven experience acting as an Experience Owner (or Product Owner) in Agile projects building new tools and enhanced capabilities.

 

Specific Accountabilities

 

  • Sets the overall strategic vision and is accountable for succeeding against identified metrics, managing and setting short- and long-term experience goals, as well as ensuring the internal teams are effectively working together.
  • In partnership with the associated Product Manager with insights from the Distribution organization including brokers, clients and customers, represents the voice of the market and defines requirements and informs the “go to market” strategy. This is inclusive of ensuring these directions are in compliance.
  • Responsible for consolidation of business requirements in support of defining the feature/user story writing process and writing (with the Product Manager) the portfolio epics.
  • Facilitates and gains agreement in the pre-planning process in collaboration with the Product Owner, Scrum Master and other impacted stakeholders - related to what needs to be supported from a business perspective.  This would include clarity on what are the allowable parameters from the compliance, legal, business or regulatory perspectives to meet the business need. 
  • Owns the driving/sharing any market research/competitor analysis.  Will evaluate competitor’s intelligence and validate against business need and operational impacts.
  • Leverages internal data and metrics to build their knowledge and drive effective business decisions; make business cases as needed to secure funding and organizational buy-in.
  • Responsible for driving the operational and service experience into how we define and accept features, set priorities on our backlog, etc. This is in part informed by the product strategy but also includes departmental goals, end user feedback, etc.
  • Owns acceptance of features/"definition of done."
