Reporting to the New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) Head of Marketing, this individual will develop and manage marketing-related communication strategy, create and drive human-centered messaging and continuity across all communications and channels. Responsible for prioritization and efficiencies in process. Create new concepts, content, and assets, that deliver a positive experience for employers, their employees, and producers in alignment with business priorities and goals. Manages a diverse team of writers and programmers.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Applies industry / market knowledge and expertise to develop marketing communication strategy and plans for B2B and B2C audiences. This includes execution and oversight of writing, traffic management and governance of other communications for same audiences (e.g., planning, bundling, prioritization, rationalization, and channel selection) ensuring delivery of meaningful, easy to understand human-centered communications that are relevant and timely.
  • Further develop digital marketing tools resulting in a comprehensive strategic program with a meaningful ROI.
  • NYL GBS training informing unified voice and brand, message continuity and tone.
  • Manage a small diverse team of writers and programmers.
  • Partner closely with Corporate Communications representing the business, support thought leadership development, inform internal communications and potential media opportunities.
  • Manage and/or create new and reusable content and assets that enhance client and customer experience, build relationships/drive loyalty, and increase brand visibility, including but not limited to new solution and service enhancements, business updates, environmental (e.g., pandemic, natural disasters), regulatory information, emails, website, and other messaging as needed.
  • Ongoing engagement with multiple matrix partners proactively identifying needs, prioritizing deliverables, overseeing and/or managing through to execution, capturing, and applying learnings.
  • Evaluates concept performance and conducts retrospective reviews to understand drivers of successes and failures. Interprets data to modify control and test positions and applies learnings impacting strategy and/or execution within short time frames and adhering to development schedules.
  • Applies deep understanding of employer and employee journeys and personas, solutions, call-to-action, campaigns, operational processes, and broader enterprise strategic objectives to rewrite and/or redesign service communications that enhance employer and employee experience, promote the New York Life brand, deepen employer and employee understanding and loyalty, remove friction points, drive desired outcomes, with a focus on operational efficiencies.
  • Works closely with marketing compliance and legal to understand and negotiate copy revisions. Establishes quick, thoughtful work-around solutions as needed to secure approval while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Proactively communicates creative or delivery/timeline challenges to internal clients and marketing leader.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or English required.
  • 10 years’ proven leadership and writing experience for B2B/C communications in the group market (e.g., Life, Accident, Disability and Voluntary).
  • Proven program and people management skills.
  • Experience with content management systems and production technologies a plus.
  • Above average level of experience working with internal and external agencies, internal partners, and vendors.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal communication (both oral and written), time management, organizational and planning and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical competencies; ability to sort collected data and disseminate and apply to or redirect approach in a timely manner.
  • Strong self-starter, proactive problem-solver, familiar and comfortable with fast-paced, timeline-driven work environment and highly efficient at multi-tasking.
  • Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, and sometimes ambiguous team-based environment across multiple functions and in support of diverse buying groups and geographies
  • Critical, strategic thinker and creative problem solver, who exercises good judgment in resolving difficult situations. Must be able to prioritize and balance needs with business and corporate objectives
