Role Overview:

 

As part of the New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (NYL GBS) Marketing team this individual will develop B2B and B2C human-centered content and assets that deliver a positive experience for employers, their employees, and producers in alignment with marketing campaigns and overall business goals. This writer will engage internal clients and manage external and internal communication projects across multiple channels, with an emphasis on digital delivery, ensuring continuity in message and tone.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Apply industry / market knowledge and expertise (e.g., Life, Accident, Disability, Voluntary) to develop marketing content and assets for B2B and B2C audiences. This includes execution of writing, planning and review of other communications for same audiences (e.g., bundling, prioritization, rationalization, and channel selection) ensuring delivery of meaningful, easy to understand human-centered communications that are relevant and timely.
  • Create digital marketing content and tools (e.g. email, web, social, click to chat, texting).
  • Deliver unified voice and brand, message continuity and tone across all communications.
  • Create new and reusable content and assets that enhance client and customer experience, build relationships/drive loyalty, and increase brand visibility, including but not limited to new solution and service enhancements, business updates, environmental (e.g., pandemic, natural disasters), regulatory information, emails, website, and other messaging as needed.
  • Ongoing engagement with multiple matrix partners understanding needs, prioritizing deliverables, managing through execution, capturing and applying learnings.
  • Evaluates communication performance and conducts retrospective reviews to understand drivers of successes and failures.
  • Applies deep understanding of employer and employee journeys and personas, solutions, call-to-action, campaigns, and operational processes to rewrite and/or redesign service communications that enhance employer and employee experience, promote the New York Life brand, deepen employer and employee understanding and loyalty, remove friction points, drive desired outcomes, with a focus on operational efficiencies.
  • Works closely with marketing compliance and legal to understand and negotiate copy revisions. Establishes quick, thoughtful work-around solutions as needed to secure approval while maintaining creative integrity.
  • Write short- and long-form communications, manage legal and compliance approvals, and ensure delivery of relevant, timely content that aligns with business priorities.
  • Collaborate with creative team in writing copy and proposing design ideas.
  • Document all legal and compliance, and other internal reviews, on a continuing basis.
  • Propose marketing concepts to cross-functional teams, strategy groups, marketing leadership, and operations partners and interact through content approval process.
  • Proactively communicate creative or delivery/timeline challenges to internal clients and Manager.

What You’ll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or English preferred, and/or equivalent experience
  • 5-7 years’ experience in writing and producing communications for B2B/C, including execution of marketing strategy, concept development, and presentation in the group industry (e.g. Life, Accident, Disability and Voluntary, etc).
  • Experience writing for digital channels (web, social)
  • Experience working with internal and external agencies, internal partners, and vendors.
  • Strong interpersonal communication, oral and written, time management, planning, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical competencies; ability to sort collected data and disseminate and apply to or redirect approach.
  • Strong self-starter, proactive problem-solver, comfortable managing sometimes competing priorities in a rapidly changing, timeline-driven work environments.  
  • Highly proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Critical thinker and creative problem solver, who exercises good judgment, resolves conflicting demands while balancing priorities with business objectives
  • An understanding of production technologies
  • Ability to see the big picture and connect disparate marketing initiatives into communication tactics and strategies.

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $82,500-$110,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
