Join the Office of Governmental Affairs (OGA), where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the public policy landscape that impacts New York Life, our agents, and our policy owners. By monitoring legislative and regulatory activity, crafting strategic responses, and educating policymakers, you directly influence public policy decisions that affect everything from product design to client interactions. Collaborate with a dedicated team and subject matter experts across the company to ensure informed policy priorities and safeguard the future of New York Life.

 

 

Role Overview:

This position reports to the Vice President of PAC and Grassroots and collaborates with the State and Federal lobbying teams to Lead grassroots lobbying initiatives, influence public policy outcomes, Cultivate a company-wide culture of political engagement and drive fundraising for the New York Life Political Action Committee (NYLPAC)

 

What You’ll Do:
• Direct agent grassroots lobbying program
o Partner with Agency leadership to identify politically engaged agents
o Motivate, train, and equip agents to advocate on New York Life’s political priorities
o Organize advocacy conferences in Washington, DC and select states
• Train agents to lobby state and federal lawmakers effectively
• Educate and encourage PAC-eligible agents and employees to contribute to NYLPAC
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with agents and senior company leadership
• Promote a politically engaged workforce culture:
o Communicate the importance of volunteer constituent public policy engagement
o Develop persuasive and informative content, including emails, intranet articles, speeches, and presentations
• Act as a liaison to industry trade groups on grassroots lobbying efforts
• Mobilize employees and agents in support of NYL’s public policy agenda through targeted campaigns and action alerts

What You’ll Bring:


• At least 5-7 years of experience, preferable including federal government affairs roles
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and persuasion skills
• Keen political instincts and ability to operate in a bipartisan environment
• Proven leadership in managing complex logistics, including large-scale advocacy events
• Self-starter with a bias for action and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Collaborative, with the credibility to engage senior executives
• Strong project and process management skills
• Confident public speaker with experience leading meetings and presenting

 

Pay Transparency

Salary Range: $117,500-$200,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
