This unique opportunity is a permanent position within the Group Benefit Solutions’ IT team. As a scrum master, in an Agile Release Train (ART), you will be part of a high-visibility portfolio of projects, working on leading edge initiatives.


Your primary responsibilities will be facilitating a shared services scrum team that focuses on cross ART quality and performance testing of a digital self-service portal and that integrates within an enterprise-wide architecture and business value chain.


We are looking for exceptional candidates to work Eastern Time (EST) from home with on-shore, near-shore and off-shore members that want to grow a successful career and that wants to be part of an ambitious, highly focused team.  Limited travel (15-25%) will be required in the future when teams return to onsite work


In order to be considered, you must be highly motivated, driven to succeed, have proven IT leadership skills and have demonstrated expertise in managing large scale IT application delivery and quality engineering in a matrixed environment. You are an accomplished scrum master and skilled problem solver who can motivate change as well as a strategic thinker who understands the big picture. 


What are the Key Responsibilities?


  • Accountable for planning and delivering large-scale, complex strategic quality initiatives often involving a matrix of constituents as well as external delivery partners
  • Define and track timelines while developing, maintaining, and reporting on an overall integrated delivery plan that includes contingency plans, inter- and intra-project and solution dependencies, and other related project management artifacts
  • Disciplined with scope management; partners with scrum teams to assess and evaluate changes for feasibility and impacts on commitments
  • Negotiates and manages scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed upon time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Facilitates team ceremonies including daily scrums, backlog refinement, iteration planning, iteration retrospectives, iteration demoes and program increment (PI) planning
  • Coordinates with other scrum masters in the Scrum-Of-Scrums and routinely coordinates between teams within and outside the ART
  • Develops and tracks performance metrics; tracks and communicates out on benefit realization 
  • Serves as subject matter expert in routinely briefing key stakeholders on different aspects of assigned initiatives
  • Builds an environment of trust, collaboration, and openness among peers and other team members. Shares lessons learned, perceptions, and best practices openly with an eye towards continuous process improvement
  • Proposes recommendations and adjustments to project delivery and related solutions throughout the life of the initiative
  • Communicates clearly with all levels of stakeholders to ensure deliverables are hit. Can articulate tradeoffs and impacts with the big picture in mind to enable strategic and tactical decision making as well as mitigate risk



What are the Qualifications?


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science and Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related discipline is preferred
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred
  • 5 to 10 years of technology project management or scrum master experience is required
  • 5 or more years of software testing experience is preferred
  • 2 or more years of experience with testing complex backend batch processes and UIs is preffered
  • 2 or more years of experience working with automated test suites is preferred
  • Experience with TDD and/or BDD methodologies is required
  • A proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity
  • Ability to navigate a fast paced, highly matrixed organization effectively
  • Proven ability to present and communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally
  • Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives
  • Demonstrated, applied experience establishing and delivering complex projects
  • Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment
  • Experienced or retains advanced knowledge of multiple IT disciplines including software designs and architecture patterns, quality assurance methods, requirement gathering, business process engineering, etc.
