The LTD Director is a key driver to the overall claims organization and serves to deliver on the mission, strategy and annual plan.  They have responsibility for coaching and managing a group of 4-5 Team Leaders and indirect responsibility for 45 – 60 LTD claims staff.   The LTD Director will be responsible for ensuring that organizational goals are being met and that their staff is delivering service at the highest level and running at peak efficiency.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure all LTD claims are accurately and fairly adjudicated according to plan provisions, established best practices and within state and federal guidelines.

 

  • Build and support a high-performance culture within Group Operations, focusing on employee training and development, regular and open communication, individual accountability and recognition.

 

  • Work closely with LTD Team Leaders to participate in case plan sessions and attend team’s staffing sessions.

 

  • Partners with VP of LTD Operations and peer group to ensure contingency plans are in place to achieve consistent outcomes over time.

 

  • Partners effectively with key business partners to manage and resolve issues that pertain to customer and client service requests, expert resource involvement, expense management, and quality control issues.

 

  • Proactively analyze dashboards and various milestones to chart progress against expectations and accountabilities to maximize operational effectiveness.  Identify areas of opportunity, assist with goal setting, and create plans for sustained improvement.

 

  • Participate in projects and initiatives in support of service and operational excellence and providing consistent, positive customer service.

 

  • Work with LTD Team Leaders to ensure claim performance meets or exceeds published Quality and Compliance standards. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 6+ years of disability claim management experience preferred
  • Prior management experience preferred
  • Bachelor degree preferred or applicable work experience
  • High school diploma or GED from accredited institution required
  • Ability to prioritize critical objectives focusing on high impact components
  • Ability to work with high sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, both with senior leaders in the organization and in disseminating information to staff.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Disability Claims Management, and the functional and technical knowledge and skills to perform the job.
  • Ability to mentor and coach others to meet or exceed goals successfully.
  • Ability to manage complex and escalated issues independently.  Able to adapt to changing and ambiguous circumstances.

Salary range: $95,000-$145,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
