Position Summary

Are you seeking an opportunity to be an integral member of an innovative team at one of the world’s most admired companies? The newly established Strategic Insights team will be responsible for developing cross-functional reporting capabilities for senior management of the Foundational Business.

 

New York Life’s Strategic Insights team is looking for an outstanding Data Quality analyst to ensure timely, accurate reporting of our data and ensure that dashboards and models move to Production aesthetically pleasing and within our guideline standards.  The person in this role will use their knowledge of data quality standards, data sources, data structure and BI knowledge to identify issues and create solutions and recommendations.  The ideal candidate has experience in identifying data quality issues and can identify and correct minor issues as well. This candidate also must be comfortable working with tight deadlines at times.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems.
  • Evaluate large dataset for quality and accuracy.
  • Determine business impact level for data quality issues.
  • actuate root cause for data quality errors and make recommendations for long-term solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to Strategic Insights standards.
  • Analyze, query and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures.
  • Present detailed analysis and findings
  • Provide recommendations to BI developers and Data analyst to improve the overall performance, aesthetics and functionality of the dashboard or model.

 

Experience

  • 4 + years of Data Quality experience
  • Knowledge of BI tools, Tableau preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with strong business judgement
  • Advanced SQL knowledge, working with “big data”, Python, AWS Cloud services, data wrangling tools and Hadoop
  • Exposure to profiling, cleansing and validation libraries
  • Proactive mind set with a strong sense of ownership and delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to clearly present ideas, concepts, and solutions
  • Quick learner both in terms of new technical skills and acquiring domain knowledge
  • Team player who embraces innovative solutions.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally within the organization.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; Masters preferred
  • 4+ years of experience of evaluating the quality of data

Salary range: $95,000-$145,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
