Role Description

New York Life is seeking a highly qualified individual to join the Analytics team in the Strategic Solutions Group (SSG) within the Foundational Business Strategic Capabilities organization. SSG is responsible for several critical initiatives related to new business and underwriting modernization for the foundation business, including Life, Long Term Care (LTC) and Individual Disability Income (IDI). 

The SSG team is currently executing on several strategic initiatives to improve purchase experience, operational efficiency, and risk assessment of the Foundational Business areas.  [REPLACE w TITLE] will be a key player that performs analysis and develops actionable insights that support each initiative’s strategy, planning, execution, development, delivery and operationalization.

This position will be an integral part of the SSG team and will work with colleagues at all levels across functional and organizational lines. This position requires someone with strong financial and analytical experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the capability to effectively work collaboratively with others, and an entrepreneurial drive to execute on both day-to-day priorities and longer-term goals. 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine and update/maintain multi-year cost-benefit analyses for various initiatives of the Strategic Solutions Group related to the purchase experience and new business and underwriting modernization
  • Prepare high-quality discussion material for Capital Investment Committee (CIC), governance meetings, and management reports
  • Undertake analysis to identify and execute on opportunities to drive greater operational efficiencies, including automation and streamlining of underwriting requirements
  • Analysis of PoC implementation, planning and support
  • Business impact of landscape developments, digital, new technology platforms and other innovations
  • Financial tracking (program, project, initiative level), reporting; collaboration with Finance team
  • Ecosystem analysis e.g., technology landscape, market shares, market coverage, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Underwriting Risk Insights team on analysis of operational impact of key initiatives (e.g., cost reduction, efficiency, automation), expansion of capabilities,
  • Work closely with other members of the Strategic Solutions team, and other teams including UW Risk Insights, Technology, Agency, Finance, and Center for Data Science & Artificial Intelligence 

 

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience creating financial models and collaborating with stakeholders
  • Highly developed financial modeling and analytics skills
  • Strong business acumen and judgement
  • Well-developed collaborative skills, ability to work effectively with a broad range of cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong bias for execution and orientation towards achieving tangible results
  • Knowledge of life insurance products
  • Strong business partnering and project management skills
  • High standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to execute complex analysis and communicate to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Deep knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
