The Corporate Compliance Department (CCD) of New York Life Insurance Company seeks an experienced professional to manage the Group Benefits Solutions (GBS) Compliance team.    


In this role, you will collaborate with the business to maintain an effective compliance program. Working closely with Corporate Compliance management, business leaders, Legal, Government Affairs, Internal Audit and other stakeholders, you will help identify and mitigate compliance risks. You will support the team and enhance the compliance program through partnership with the business teams and encouraging a solutions-oriented approach to compliance. The team will help the business understand its regulatory obligations to ensure we comply with all federal, state and local rules and regulations, and internal compliance requirements.


•    Managing the day-to-day functions of the GBS compliance program, including management of a team of four compliance professionals that maintain a wide range of responsibilities, including: an independent testing program, OFAC/sanctions screening oversight, regulatory tracking, TPA compliance oversight, providing guidance on privacy issues, and managing general compliance issues
•    Identify areas of potential regulatory risk and partner with business areas to mitigate those risks
•    Ensure NYL’s compliance standards are met through defining milestones, resource allocation, and successful on-time delivery
•    Host regular meetings with key personnel from the business, legal, compliance, and risk to discuss compliance issues, requirements, tasks, projects, and initiatives that may impact the business
•    Prepare and present compliance reports to Senior Management 
•    Collaborate with other departments to direct compliance issues to appropriate channels for investigation and resolution
•    Track laws and regulations and identify requirements applicable to the business to help ensure the requirements are met  
•    Provide timely and consistent compliance guidance to the business 
•    Collaborate with the business to formulate and execute compliance reviews, including reviewing procedures & documentation, identifying issues, and communicating findings
•    Develop corrective action plans to address known issues. Independently test the effectiveness of those corrective action plans and other key compliance processes
•    Engage with the business to assist with gathering information for regulatory reporting and market conduct examinations
•    Handle special projects as needed


Qualifications and Job Requirements
•    Bachelor’s Degree 
•    At least 8 years of experience in a compliance role within an insurance or financial services company, preferably in group insurance 
•    Team management experience 
•    Experience crafting and developing insurance compliance programs
•    Knowledge and experience in group insurance
•    Experience providing compliance guidance on the development of group insurance products
•    Ability to consult with and influence senior leadership
•    Ability to understand legal material, conduct independent research and analysis
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present information in differing degrees of detail and form depending on the audience
•    Excellent attention to detail, time management, and multitasking/prioritization skills
•    Analytical skills to identify possible solutions using experience, judgment, and precedent. 
•    Works independently as well as within a team environment
•    Ability to inspire, motivate, and energize others through commitment to our goals and objectives
•    Act with agility and be prepared to engage quickly
•    Drive innovation and explore new ways to create value
