New York Life’s Group Benefit Solutions team is seeking a Group Pricing Actuary for a key role in the organization. This individual will play a critical role in analyzing macro influences and creating target strategies to support profitable growth. Good partnerships with key functional areas and a collaborative mindset are important to be successful.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate historical experience, economic trends, and other macro influences to create target strategies that support profitable growth in a competitive marketplace.
  • Design and deliver reports to GBS leadership that generate key insights into book performance.
  • Implement key financial metrics to align GBS with New York Life’s corporate framework.
  • Lead, mentor and train actuarial students.
  • Develop and enhance complex actuarial analyses to support the group products’ profitability, growth, and operational objectives.
  • Collaborate with and support key business partners such as Underwriting, Distribution, Product, Claims, Finance, IT and Compliance. In particular, closely collaborate with our Underwriting team.
  • Provide clear communications and presentations of technical actuarial work to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Mathematics, Finance, Statistics or Actuarial Science.
  • Fellow or Associate of the Society of Actuaries.
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience, with preference for group pricing experience.
  • Experience managing actuarial students.
  • Strong analytical and programming skills, with ability to summarize key trends and findings.
  • Advanced communication skills, with ability to interact effectively with business partners.
