Position Summary

Are you passionate about the intersection between data-driven insights, impactful business strategy and solving complex challenges? The Strategic Insights team partners with business and enterprise leaders to deliver business intelligence and analytical recommendations to aid in the decision-making process. We help illuminate areas of opportunities to drive incremental value across the enterprise and works on a wide variety of compelling high impact projects that spans marketing, product, sales, and more. As the Analytics leader of the Strategic Insights team, you will be a steering a group of highly skilled analytics professionals, with a passion for data and insights.

 

The Corporate Vice President (CVP) Head of Strategic Analytics will be responsible for leading a world class team of high performing data analysts that provides insights to support enterprise initiatives. This is a great opportunity for a leader that relishes innovative data solutions, passionate about analytics and enjoys building a motivated team to support the strategic needs of the organization. In this role, you will build out a data analytics team that is focused on the enterprise’s top priorities and staffed with strong existing and new talent. You will have exposure to and partner closely with senior leaders to drive impact and results. You will also drive strategies with insights with effective communication and strong technical skills to develop and oversee complex analyses.

 

Responsibilities:

Proactively introduce and socialize strategies that generate sustainable long-term success grounded on data analytics and look for enterprise-wide leverage opportunities

• Drives the use of data-based decision making and Analytics within New York Life by engaging in internal partnership management, discovering business opportunity and creating business value by executing on high-priority projects

• Utilizes advanced statistical techniques to create analyses to address business objectives

• Lead and develop a top talent team of analysts that own high complexity projects

• Manage, design, execute continuous quantitative and qualitative analysis to solve specific business questions; lead analysis of large, complex data sets to provide insights

• Lead the way to developing actionable recommendations and communicate them in an easy to digest manner

• Manage and further build the analytics team, including recruiting, goal setting, performance evaluation, effective resource allocation and career/skill development and training.

• Actively contributes to analytics strategy by contributing ideas and preparing presentation material for internal stakeholders

• Strong ability to plan and manage numerous processes, people and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines

 

Qualifications

Bachelors in a quantitative field (Business, Math/ Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or similar); Masters, preferred

• 8+ years of experience in insights and analytics required

• 3+ years of management experience. Proven ability to team and multiple, time-sensitive projects and competing priorities in a dynamic business environment while maintaining strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Ability to provide technical guidance to direct reports.

• Experience with advanced analytics using large and complex datasets and platforms (SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Cloud, etc.), including model development/data science

• Demonstrated experience in strategic and analytical leadership in a proactive manner

• Executive presence on high-level meetings. Credible functional expertise in predictive analytics.

• Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and lead multiple work assignments with high standards in a fast-paced environment

• Strong ability to synthesize data, develop insights, and identify and translate technical findings into actionable recommendations through easy to digest communication, presentations and reports; experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies

• Demonstrated success in creating measurable business benefit for analytics while interacting with many stakeholders in a complex organization.

• Strong verbal and written communications skills, listening and teamwork skills, and effective presentation skills.

• Excellent communication, collaboration and delegation skills

• Insurance industry knowledge preferred

Salary range: $157,500-$237,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
