The Center for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (CDSAi) is the 70-person innovative corporate Analytics group within New York Life. We are a rapidly growing entrepreneurial department which designs, creates, and offers innovative data-driven solutions for many parts of the enterprise. In the 7 years of the existence of CDSAi we have built a lot of predictive modeling solutions that are being used by various areas in the company. We have also stood up a modern model deployment platform that allows our models to be accessed in real time or batch (via APIs) from any production system in the company.

 

In addition to several data science teams, CDSAi has a dedicated ML Ops team (for all infrastructure, data and model deployments), our own project management office, a model governance team, a development team (training, internships, media, events, other internal and external branding) and data science product managers.

 

You will apply your highly developed technical predictive analytics skills to review and validate a variety of models, create and maintain an inventory of production models.

 

You will apply your communications skills working closely with data scientists and data engineers to ensure proper modeling processes are following during the model development lifecycle.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Methodology review and leadership: Reviews model designs, statistical methodology and features. Explores methodology options, stays up-to-date on statistical/ML/AI methods research
  • Model validation: Performs independent validations of data and models prior to implementation. Validates model performance and business impact post-implementation
  • Builds challenger models as needed to compare with models being validated
  • Writes model validation reports summarizing findings from validations
  • Model inventory and maintenance: Maintains inventory of all statistical models running in production, with input data, use cases, benefits and risks (data, technical, privacy, regulatory, brand)
  • Actively collaborates with the corporate model risk management team (financial, actuarial, etc. models)

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Masters degree or higher in statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, engineering, or other technical field
  • 3+ years in a similar role in statistical model risk management
  • Experience in statistical modeling techniques such as linear regression, logistic regression, survival analysis, GLM, GBM, neural nets, feature engineering and selection, and validation. Experience with comparing methodologies
  • Strong proficiency in programming using Python, R, and SQL
  • Experience with statistical modeling using large and complex datasets
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills, listening and teamwork skills

Salary range: $95,000-$145,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
