Location: This position is fully remote and reports to New York Life’s HQ in New York, New York. Applicants may work from a home office anywhere in the United States.


Offered Wage: $147,285/year


Duties: Reviews requirements leveraging knowledge of Microsoft.NET and RESTful API development. Sets up initial discovery and regular follow up meetings with stakeholders to finalize requirements. Performs impact analysis concerning application change requests and enhancements and translates requirements into design documents. Collaborates with Technical Architects, Leads, and Managers to determine design specifications, modules, components, and interfaces for system integration. Evaluates alternate designs and technical solutions to determine the most suitable approach and technical solution to address business needs. Works with the Infrastructure and DevOps teams to identify deployment and monitoring strategies. Analyzes issues reported by clients, writes programming logic to fix issues, performs unit testing, and deploys updates to support daily system maintenance. Develops new modules and components and implements change requests for policy administration’s integration layer to add new features or improve performance, usability, and enhancements.  Performs unit testing and code review for solutions and collaborates with Quality Assurance (QA) for further testing to ensure timely execution of bug fixes and developed modules. Monitors production components using Cloud Watch logs, Cloud Trail logs, and automated reports to ensure components run smoothly.  Responds to and resolves critical production issues. Develops interim solutions to limit downtime while a permanent solution can be developed. Participates in production deployments and provides technical troubleshooting and debugging support. Automates repeated manual tasks and reports leveraging tools and scripting to ensure efficient operation and product quality.  Researches and recommends the implementation of new technology or technical tools to improve system performance, stability, and development process. Attends conferences and trainings to keep abreast of the latest technology trends to improve the policy administration system.

 

Education & Experience Requirements: 
Master's degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience as a Software Developer (or closely related occupation) or experience performing Microsoft.NET and RESTful API development.


Or, alternatively:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience as a Software Developer (or closely related occupation) or experience performing Microsoft.NET and RESTful API development.


Required Skills: 
Experience must include 2 years in each of the following skills:
(1)    Performing application development using C#, Microsoft .Net, SQL Server, and Web API;
(2)    Performing web application development using HTML, CSS, Typescript, and Angular;
(3)    Performing application life cycle management (ALM), including source code control (SCC), versioning, bug tracking, continuous deployment, and team collaboration leveraging Team Foundation Server and JIRA; 
(4)    Developing APIs using microservice architecture, writing unit test cases, and performing unit testing (UT) and system integration testing (SIT); and,
(5)    Developing cloud-native applications leveraging Kafka, PostgreSQL, and “best practices.”
