Senior Associate, GBS - Client Consulting and Analytics

Role Overview:  

The Client Informatics organization is committed to providing employer clients with reporting, analytics, and consultation that are relevant and actionable. A key enabler of this mission is the Client Consulting and Analytics team. This client-facing team provides expert consultation to New York Life Group Benefit Solutions’ (GBS) largest clients through best-in-class reporting and analytics that demonstrate the value of GBS products and services and support strategic decision-making.

 

As an Informatics Consultant (IC), you will be responsible for providing analytical support to Group Benefit Solutions’ largest clients. The Informatics Consultant plays an integral role in the client relationship by partnering with Account Management to deliver client reporting, analytics, and consultative messaging. In addition to directly supporting the account management process, this role is instrumental in designing and developing new reporting content and consultative approaches.

 

 

What You’ll Do 

 

Provide consultative support for assigned book of business:

  • Develop consultative analytic reports for Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) National and Regional Account clients, with a primary focus on disability, absence, voluntary benefits, and life products.
  • Use claims data analysis methodology to identify actionable trends for clients.
  • Develop standard and customized recommendations to help clients increase productivity and decrease incidence, absenteeism, and costs. Recommendations should align with the products and services targeted in GBS’ value proposition across all lines of business.
  • Troubleshoot data-related issues or inconsistencies.
  • Develop and cultivate partnerships with Account Management, Underwriting, Operations, and other business partners, centered on individual clients and focused on strategically advising clients on opportunities to reduce health, absence, and productivity risk.
  • Lead presentations of data and recommendations for clients requesting Tier 1 services.
  • Work with Account Management to prioritize and schedule client reports and meetings in alignment with capacity and timing guidelines.
  • Provide reporting within current processes and capabilities across multiple products.

 

Lead the development of new reporting and analytics capabilities:

  • Collaborate with Account Management, Underwriting, Product, and Claims stakeholders to develop analytics concepts that identify key trends and opportunities and resonate with clients.
  • Identify key strengths and weaknesses in the current reporting model based on interactions with clients, brokers, Underwriting, and Account Management across the GBS book of business.
  • Create reporting capabilities and concepts that demonstrate GBS’ value proposition and enable GBS to achieve a market-leading position in wellness, absence management, and productivity.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to identify marketplace trends and update the analytics strategy.

 

Partner with key stakeholders:

  • Provide high-level data to identify candidates for case studies and examine client performance at a summary level.
  • Support key analytics and research projects led by Group Benefit Solutions Informatics and the consultative reporting team.
  • Support the development of more effective reporting and diagnostics for integrated reporting.
  • Support operational improvement initiatives based on trends identified through data analysis.
  • Provide training and expert advice to key business partners by sharing tools and techniques related to consultative analysis.

 

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferred fields include mathematics, economics, computer science, data analytics, engineering, or related disciplines. Advanced degree or designation preferred.
  • Strong technical skills with data visualization tools (Tableau and Power BI) are required; experience in Microsoft SQL, SAS, Redshift, is required. Statistical programming experience in Python or R preferred.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated business results in an analytics and consulting capacity, with the ability to translate business questions into analytical plans.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Knowledge of Group Insurance products preferred.

• Understand detailed technical processes and create project specifications to support ongoing improvement of GBS reporting and analytics capabilities.

• Build and maintain professional relationships.
• Effectively partner with and influence cross-functional teams.

 

Organizational Influence:
• Educate account teams and sales leadership to support understanding of performance metrics and client needs.
• Influence business partners in ways that support earnings and membership growth.

Pay Transparency

Salary range: $90,000 - $120,000 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No 

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
